Lots of online repair companies will replace it for around $69 if the LCD behind the glass is unaffected. I suppose shipping is extra for some sites. Google 'iPhone glass repair'.

Is the iPhone the most fragile mobile on the market? I swear everyone I know that has one has broken the screen. I love what the phone can do, but I feel like I'd be under so much stress if I had one...for fear of breaking it. I've dropped my Blackberry maybe 3-4 times and it doesn't even have a scratch on it (no case either).

When you drop a handset that has a glass front (and back on the new one) that extends to the edges, it's probably going to break when dropped.

+1 on the glass repair solution mentioned earlier...i've done it once and it was certainly a lot less painful than taking the phone to apple and paying $200 for an "out-of warranty" replacement. though now that the iphone 4 has come out, it may be cheaper.

i've dropped/lost/had stolen/otherwise parted with many iphones (i am on my 5th one in two years)...my best advice is to find insurance that will cover it...squaretrade.com is my pick. I've never had problems getting them to replace things, and god knows I have recouped my money back multiple times thanks to them.

If you're really nice to them at the Apple Store, they might replace the screen for free. They did it for me--mine was only a single crack but it ran the entire length of the screen. They replaced it within 15 minutes at no charge.

I'd replace your phone screen for free too if I worked at the Genius bar icon_smile.gif

I've had 3 iPhones....ive dropped them on the street, at the gym, while walking. I've seen it flying 4 meters from the ground and landing on concrete. I scratched the screen and the volume button came off on my first iPhone but that's about it seriously. My 3GS right now has a a little crack on the back plastic cover...A lot of my friends have iPhones and only one of them managed to break the glass...I don't know how u guys do it

It fell out of my hand and fell flat face down on the glass on my kitchen's ceramic floor.

I was googling it, and it indicated that a flat face down fall is more likely to break the glass than if it landed on a corner or on it's back.

Yah - I work at a Cellular provider ... so I'm going to see if a coworker that manages the iPhone product marketing dept can get me a new one ... Otherwise, I'll just go have the glass replaced.

It's not my primary phone - but it's still a piss off icon_smile.gif

    This stuff is pretty amazing.

Apple won't release if they use it for the Iphone. Based on the feedback, I would doubt it.

Is gorilla in my device? http://www.corning.com/gorillaglass/devices.aspx

That is the #1 reason I do not want an iPhone.
I drop my old flip phone all the time.

    Aren't iPhones great?

I see this so often in NYC. It's as if there's an epidemic of clumsy iPhone/Touch owners. Seriously, I see at least two a day. Many co-workers have the same problem. I think the iPhone is a hyped piece of shit. This is one of the reasons why. It's an extremely unforgiving product.
