Is there any excuse for this from the United States Govt? I'd really like to hear it.

Government is run by people (not aliens), and people are fallible. Some people are more fallible than others, and they get into government positions. (GWB, anyone?)

For what? The investigation? Or that DoD employees & contractors are suspected of involvement with child porn?

The fact that 260+ cases of child pornography in the Pentagon involving people in the NSA and other top secret level clearance personnel are not being held accountable for their actions under the guise of "lack of resources." If California can go after John Gardner, im sure the United States with all of its many many outlets of resources can do a little better to protect these children. What a crock
