Wow, lots of young people in that crowd. Wonder how many actually live in the real world and aren't subsidized by their parents.

And look at how little diversity in that crowd! It's mostly all white! ;)

Numbers are trickling in...looks like Beck's Festival of Fear was dwarfed by this weekend's rally.

And mock? Educate yourself. Stewart and Colbert's rally was a virtual UN, compared to Beck's.

Umm, if you didn't notice I was making fun of the ridiculous idea that "diversity" defined by skin color actually "means" something, or is something "important".

There were thousands at his rally .... and he dwarfed ALL the Beck and Teaparty Hate fests

But all the media are doing backflips to say .... Oh This Isn't political

    OF COURSE IT IS
Because it's pointing a Big Fat Finger at the republican lie machine
    Go Jon and Steven
Sad to see that 2 comedians are needed to point out the hypocrisy in American Politics today

It is possible actually to live in the real world, even while you are still with your parents. But i guess when the whole point of the rally is to mock the extreme, the extremists can only mock the rallyers.

Face it, mocktwinkie, that was a large and visible re-uh-FUDIATION - of you and your ilk. Now crawl back to the sidelines where you can resume screaming and stop disturbing the grown-ups.

The rest of the us are reassured to see there are a lot more rational middle of the roaders who are trying to take the focus back off the lunatic fringe that you represent so well.

the message of the rally could be summed up as: "If you have nothing constructive to say, say nothing.

Mock does not represent the lunatic fringe. His views are pretty mainstream and reflected in the polls. And he is a "grown-up". Sometimes you foreigners go too far and should keep your opinions to yourself. You sure as hell had nothing constructive to say. GO HARPER, AND IF YOU DON'T SUPPORT HIM, YOU ARE A BAD CANADIAN. How's that for an inappropriate cross-border comment?

if you consider the Tea Party mainstream, then I suppose his views are. But the whole rally was to point out that what you are calling mainstream is not at all. The REAL mainstream is not being heard - just the loons.

(I define loons as anyone who keeps spreading misinformation however often it is demonstrated to be an outright falsehood.. Like the "death panels." mocktwinkie falls into that group.

If you cannot argue your political viewpoint with reality, you are either intellectually dishonest, malicious, or stupid. I do not know which he is.
    but mainstream he is not.

The mainstream does not cling to a falsehood once it has been pointed out to them.

The problem is not Democrats vs Republicans, (or, in Canada) Liberals vs Conservatives. It is people deliberately repeating bullshit that has reduced politics to total intellectual dishonesty (usually from the right)

How long did it take before the Right stopped with the whole "Death Panel" bullshit? That was an outright lie and showed contempt for the electorate.

Stewart & Colbert have put the spotlight back on the MAJORITY who who are actually rational enough to say "there was NOTHING" in there about "death panels," so stop lying about it., please."

The MAJORITY is fed up with the lies. So stop it.

The majority is reflected by numerous polls. Polls in the US show the percentage of people who call themselves liberal at approx 20%, hardly a majority. But it is true that most are fed up with the lies, many coming from the liberals. Death Panels are reflective of the govt bureaucrats who will decide on what can be covered based on age. But this will be repealed. The comedy team of Stewart and Colbert will not have significant effect on the election.

If you think the point of the rally was to influence the election then you REALLY missed the boat.

I really can not resist- this is my political beliefs in cartoon form! I would be surprised if the Republicans did not win the election and get their short time to fuck things up for awhile. I think it is their turn.

This is a genuine question for SB, Mock, and Socal:

Not that I am defending the Democrats, but why are you guys so convinced that Republicans will be the most fiscally responsible, guardians of the free market? What have they done in the last 30 years to earn such loyalty in that regard?

The Reagan Administration was the worst manipulator of the dollar in US history (one of the key issues we're trying to brow-beat the Chinese with today). His policy's trashed the US dollar, that's not a free market concept. And he greatly expanded government spending, primarily in the form of military spending. The national debt more then tripled under his administration.

Bush 41, is a one-term president precisely because he raised taxes.

And the Bush 43 Admin did indeed cut taxes but they did so while greatly increasing spending. The national debt steadily expanded under his administration even before the Dems took control of Congress back from the Repubs. The Iraq and Afgan wars were put entirely on the national credit card, a credit card we got from China.

The only administration to preside over a shrinking national debt was Clinton (though I will grant, the largest decrease in the national debt did come after the Republicans took over Congress). His admin. presided over the largest economic expansion in US history (his admin left a huge surplus) and brought American dependence on welfare programs to their lowest points in history.
