drunk comments by straight friend

I'm straight and married and I have a very close friend (probably my best friend) who is also married, and when we've been drinking, he'll often make comments to me like, "I want to sleep with you" or "I want to sleep with you before I die," and he does it with a smirk on his face. I never think anything of it because we tend to do a lot of homo-erotic teasing with each other anyway, even when sober. But anyways, do you think any of it is displaying his true feelings (not that I would care), or is just purely in jest? He's an attractive guy, but I don't want to sleep with him. I do find it flattering when he says stuff like that, but I think that's pretty standard among guys.

Posting it here on a gay site suggests that you DO care about his comments, or else you would ignore & forget them. Not being a straight guy I can't tell you, you might be better asking this question on a straight site. I'm inclined to think his true hidden feelings are coming out when he drinks, as alcohol lowers inhibitions, but that's just an uninformed feeling about what a straight guy would say. If he's really a closeted gay, then, yeah, he could find it difficult to hide his true tendencies when he drinks.

When I said I don't care, what I meant was, it wouldn't affect my friendship with him if it turned out those were his true feelings.

Im a married somewhat straight guy and I have a best friend and we've played around. He is also married. Our friendship is so strong that fooling around is the only way to express our closeness. So I would think that he cares a great deal for you and can only express it when hes been drinking.
However for the sake of the friendship I would not do to him drunk what he would not do to you sober.
    Hope it helps

Only your friend can give you the definitive answer but I can tell you that when I was in my 20's I had a straight neighbor. He constantly teased me and made references in public that if he ever did it with a guy, it would be with me... I always told him to shut up and quit fucking with me. Years later I found out he was serious... :-|

This has to be one of the best answer/responses. I totally agree

You're not allowed to hold him to things he says when he's drunk. I've said a lot of things when drunk that I didn't mean, and wouldn't say when I was sober. Now, if he starts in with "I wanna suck you off" while he's sober, the next question would then become, "What would my wife want me to do?", then "What would his wife want us to do?"
There are other people's feelings involved besides the two of you, since you made promises to them in front of your friends and family and your wife's friends and family. Then again, not everyone stands behind their word, which is cool too, in that "I don't have the right to call myself a man" type of way...

It's annoying when faceless closet cases troll around in such a fashion

Sorry OP but you aren't really painting a pretty picture for yourself here and one would think after reading this scenario that you have some gay thoughts for your buddy and are somewhat tempted to explore.

A straight guy doesn't refer to himself as "a married but somewhat straight guy" (your words, not mine). That's just doesn't click anywhere not to mention that you are on a predominately gay site. It just doesn't add up.

At the very least you are bi or just curious and if that's the case then you need to sit down and evaluate your situation because you are married that would be fucked up to your wife. Plus your friends seems to be rather "friendly" and gracious with the compliment and flirts only when drinking and we all know how truth revealing that is.

Talk to your friend before you do something you might regret.

Alcohol is a Central Nervous System depressant and will lower levels of inhibition
But that said he just might wanna sleep with you
but when the drink wears off those inhibitions come right back up
and he's the same closeted individual living a lie as you are

I'm not going to tell you to be the gay man you are but I will tell you
Don't act on you're friend's flirtations unless you wanna cause huge upsets to many lives

"I want to sleep with you before I die,"

Sleep with him and then kill him. He gets what he wants and you'll never be found out.

Another straight faceless profile? Right. Another straight fantasy? Right.

This is the organizers keeping people replying to this site. Crap like this is the reason that they will not give us the option of blocking forum topics.

That's a theory, but I doubt it. You can't read a forum topic unless you click into it. I doubt the RJ powers that be feel they need to do anything to stir up clicks on this site. The whackadoodles from con sites come here pretty regularly without any assistance.

everyone looked at eachother and laughed! i think he probably is one of those men who have sex with men but are still 'straight'

i had a good friend at work that did the same thing. he's straight but on the night of his bday he got really drunk and told me "if were gay i would so do you, cuz your fuckin hot" after that he never mentioned it again. but every now and then we'll talk about old times and we laugh about it. so dont take it seriously, he probably was just saying it in jest.

Does he say "no homo" after saying he wants to sleep with you?
If he does, it's totally not gay to follow through with it. icon_razz.gif
