RUMOR: Reid likely to Postpone Vote Of Defense Bill

Senate Dems Vow Tax Cut Vote Before Election -- Even If It Fails, 'We Win'

    From Pam Spaulding:
"Read this update: The Republican is correct on the timing, so the debate would start later next week, the Democrat said. However, the Democrat confirmed to TPM what's been rumored, that *** Reid is highly likely to set aside the defense bill and postpone a final vote until after the election."

Richard Socarides regarding DADT on Olbermann (listen to clip): "if we don't get it through tomorrow, that the math will change and it will be much harder after the midterms, if not impossible and this law may be around a lot longer than anyone had hoped."

The Dems need to lose. They arent doing us a damn bit of good. Anything we get is going to come thru the courts. Let the SOB Dems be out a job. Maybe next time they will remember their promises and who puts them in office.

So you're blaming the Dems for not being able to get through GOP filibuster? The same Dems who already passed Hate crimes and extending partner benefits to federal employees?

I wish the Dems would present a bill for the GOP to filibuster. I keep hearing people complain about the Dems inability to get over a filibuster but I am just not seeing it on big issues. Yeah, we can look at the data on the number of filibusters used this congress, but there is almost no push back from the Dems.

But, I am eager for the tax cut bill to hit the floor. I find that to be much more pressing than DADT.

Zombie - Agree with you on filibuster. I would make those motherfuckers read the phone book and no one would be allowed to leave. No campaigning. No fundraising; No potty breaks.

That is TOTAL STUPID SELF DESTRUCTIVE BS.

The problem is that there are too many REPUBLICANS in the Congress.
Bailing and quitting and allowing MORE Republicans to get elected will just make it completely impossible to achieve anything we want.

You are directing your blame and ire in the completely wrong direction.

You obviously don't know your enemy.

The Republicans are a problem when it comes to our issues. But the Dem leadership is not moving on this either. Why? Because they don't have the votes.

It is a tough year for a lot of Dems in moderate or right-leaning districts, which we picked up a butt load of in 2006 and 2008. These people are concerned that they will not win reelection with policies unpopular in their districts.

Rather than waging war on each Republican, time would be better spent building grass roots support for our issues in these districts and electing Democrats who can articulate why it is both necessary and moral for our country to pass our legislation. The Democratic Party can do only so much when it is still full of dicks like Lincoln Davis or ass-hat extraordinaire William Jefferson, who is thankfully no longer in Congress. At the same time, there is a minority of Republicans who are good on our issues: Susan Collins and Mike Castle, for example.

A bit of LOLrepublicans is healthy, but bigots get elected by bigots and maybe we should try to have fewer bigots in this world through grassroots efforts.
