It's a shame when a guy you like deletes their profile without telling you.

There's a guy I've been chatting to over the years while I've been on Realjock. Really nice guy and funny. Anyway recently he deleted his profile without letting me know he was taking off, which, I guess is fine. Even though we were never going to meet it was nice to chat to him every now and then. And now I feel sad.

I understand the concern and frustration, but on the other side....the lack of drama and the complete break, are mind clearing and cathartic.....sorry for the loss....there are some really SUPER MEN on here.....icon_cool.gif

Some guy on Myspace a long time ago did this and I was pretty lethargic.

We got along really really well, vigorously messaged back and fourth and then just one day when I went to check my messages... Deleted.

I still till this day wonder if he was who he said he was.

Stuff like this happens a lot online. In this day and age, it could be that the guy hit some type of limit or boiling point with the online life. Or maybe something happened in his personal life that required his immediate attention. Or maybe it was a fake profile. Just enjoy the good conversations. Maybe he'll come back. If he does, I'm sure he'll contact you.

I've often considered deleting my entire online existence, notifying only those I've actually met in real life.
But then I wake up the next day less depressed.

I delete my online existence all the time. But always reappear, sometimes years later. For me I just get tired of the gay drama and the games. and the people who disappoint you, or that you had a relationship with and it ended.

Just needing space and time away from the box to experience the real world again.

this hasnt happened to me yet, but im sure one day it will. Its so sad coz we build really good friendships on here and reveal a lot to guys here that we wouldnt reveal to people in the real world. I think this brings us closer. Ive met some really good guys on RJ, id be sad if any of them just left.

I've found that the most effective way to leave it all is just to stop logging in to various places you're bored with.
I've had this screenname on various sites since 2001. It's kinda my legacy. icon_lol.gif

What kind of "friend" doesn't give alternate contact info and severs contact without explanation or warning? Members not predisposed to even creating dramatic exit announcements can take two seconds to add "taking an RJ break" to their profiles but many don't, and victims of foul play don't delete their profiles. Anyone can have hundreds of online friends if they wanted but outside of the one's I've met they're essentially penpals with whom I don't expect or invest too much.
