Now that I have your attention I want some feedback! icon_twisted.gif

Martina McBride is perhaps one of my favorite singers. I have been to a couple of concerts - front row seats tickets, and have almost all her CDs.

The other day one of my friends said I should not like Martina because she stands heavy with the right wing. It was proposed she is close friends with Sean Hannity.

My response - even is she is, so what. I dig her music and I am clearly a fan. I can't judge someone based on hearsay and the only way I could determine dissovling my association would be if I met her in person and she was offensive or she pulled a Mel Gibson in the national media.

    What do you think?

I really like her music, as I do most country music, but as long as she doesn't come out spewing hateful things and/or taking stances against gays then I have no problem with her at all.

I have boycotted the artistically talented and appealing in the past. I have not seen a Roman Polanski movie since he dodged the country to evade Child Rape charges in the late 70's / early 80's. I don't watch Frasier because of the view of the star. Etc.

We all have to own our convictions. Patronizing people with far right views is not bad if the artist is at least civil and respectful of others. But when people are harmful and hateful we must draw the line.

Celebrity Or Not..Left Or Right Wing.....doesnt matter, as long as you respect each other, and save your political opinions for the right time...as long as Martina isn't on stage torching gays, I say, listen to her all you want...and dont go on hearsay.

If you enjoy her music, then go for it. She's entitled to her views, like any other private citizen. I get frustrated with the whole everyone has to see things this way or else mentality of these forums. I don't agree with the Right Wing and will be just as happy as the next guy when Sarah Palin's 15 minutes are up.

Martina doesn't owe anyone a political dissertation when she's on stage singing. What she believe is her own business and I respect her for keeping it to herself. Celeb backing can work either way with a cause.

This is actually what I expected- so I'm not even going to bother reading the OP- Writing sexually suggestive titles is okay when they're related to the content of the post.

Oh yeah... and listen to whatever the hell you want to... Mel Gibson is friggin' crazy, but I still like watching Braveheart and Lethal Weapon.

Honestly, this is why I hate country music. Remember how they treated the Dixie Chicks after they spoke out against the war?

Also, the lyrics in country are so shallow - "Jesus Take the Wheel".
