I started feeling sick last Friday. It felt like a cold, so I just rested all weekend, but was feeling worse. Went to the doctor Monday, confirmed flu. I went to work anyway Tuesday and Wednesday for partial days. This morning I felt good, started getting ready for work. I felt dizzy in the shower, fell, thought I was going to throw up and then fainted and hit my head on the toilet and tile floor. My bf tried to catch me but I was naked and wet. He at least broke my fall. The doctor had me come in and then ran tests just to be safe, but they think it was a drop in blood pressure and dehydration. Now I have a two huge bumps on my forehead that will start bruising tomorrow.

Timberoo I thought I was stubborn when I get sick. I tried to go to work with hepatitis in 1995, needless to say I lasted about 3 hours before heading back to bed.

You are lucky your partner was there, otherwise you could have seriously hurt yourself.icon_sad.gif

I get a flu shot every year, being HIV+ I am considered one of the "vulnerable" groups along with the very old and very young (and pregnant mothers). The flu is much worse than a cold. I had it in Grade 9 and didn't care if I lived or died. Temperature of 102, vomiting, chills, etc..

    Stay in bed and rest!

When you said "mess around," I thought you meant "mess around." Still, it makes sense whatever way you interpret it. I hope I don't get sick, but if I do, I will take your warning. Still ...

I have to admit I didn't mind this mental picture.icon_wink.gif But I am sorry about the physical peril and the injury!

Hope you feel better...i'm glad u didn't hurt yourself too bad. If i knew you personally...i'd be scolding u right now for being hard headed, so imagine me shaking my finger at u and showing dismay.

You should put some ice on the bump and take a few extra strength tylenol or excedrin and get some rest.

    Again...get better soonicon_biggrin.gif

This year's flu vaccine missed a strain that turned out to be strong, so a lot of people are getting sick even if they had the flu shot.

And make sure you rest more than you think you should. After being down for almost 8 days in bed, I thought I was ready for the real world. I tried to jump back into my normal routine - work, gym, social life. My cough persisted for another week or more and even a month out, I still have congestion in my lungs. I have had 2 mini flu's asting about 24-48 hours where my fever goes up a tad and I feel run down.

I should have listened to my body and slept when it was telling me. Really bad strain this year. Which, I guess missing my first flu shot in years could not have prevented.

Timberoo, I'm you are alright. A fall in the shower could be scary.

Know what Tim? Yesterday (before you posted this) I had a sense you weren't feeling well or that something was not quite right there and today I was going to write to you. Here this morning I see my intuition was somewhat correct. I hope you feel better as soon as possible. A friend who is an M.D. says to surrender to the flu, hit the sack and just take care of ourselves when we get sick. Take care!

    thanks, Gregg

Turns out I hit my head in 3 places - I hit my left eyebrow on the toilet first, then my head against the wall then the tile floor. I'm developing a nice black eye.
