It's great to see the support from the students and his parent:

    Agreed.

Gotta say, in my experience being a transman myself, most 'everyday' people are supportive and don't make a big deal out of things. It's government, bureaucracy, administrative bodies that make life hard. If they just took a common sense approach like the rest of the population does, it'd be far simpler for all concerned!

If people can aford to have this procedure done at their own expense, and it helps them with their mental disability then fine; if I'm not paying for it via taxation.

But just because medical science and medicine, can give the illusion of a women looking like a man, is a wonderful thing. But......should not give them the key to the men's toilet...... Or private clubs, as men have a right to their space, as do women.

I wolf in sheep's clothing is still a wolf.

Aunty Jack - go take a look at my profile. Now tell me that I should still be using women's toilets and spaces, and tell me how, exactly, you think that will go over with the general population.

Sorry just because one dose not accept all things, does not make one wrong, because the gay liberals who push for this do not accept all things either.

If a man wants to be done up as a women, fine! So long as they can afford it, and it's up to the women if they get a key to a women toilets and private clubs. I used to sing with a gay and lesbian choirs. If a women wanted to come sing with us guys we had to accept it. But......if one of the guys even dressed up to look like one of the gals, was not welcome to sing with the women, and they had that right, where us guys had no such right.

Once agin if a woman can afford the operations and the monthly injections to maintain the manly look fine; and to stop menstruating fine; only women bleed. So long as the tax payer does not get hit with the bill. But......this should not give them a key to the men's toilets or private clubs.

Sorry gender has more to do than what is between your ears, it's what you are born with too, and grow up with.

Sorry but.....I'm not going to be bullied into accepting something I don't. Just because medical science can create something, to help people with a mental disorder. Still doesn't make it right. Just because liberals who pretend to accept everything think I am wrong. doesn't make me wrong, as they don't accept everything either.

R_ev, baby. You are one of the sexiest men on this site.

Just put Pattycakes on ignore. Trying to reason with him is like reasoning with a mellon: it just doesn't make sense and you should really be slicing it up into a lovely fruit salad anyway.

No, what does stand out for me is that all the other responses on this thread have affirmed what I first posted: "most 'everyday' people are supportive and don't make a big deal out of things."

What also stands out for me is that a few of you think I'm hot.
Which is, you know, a pretty damn fine place to start the week from. icon_biggrin.gif

RJ is many things. It also beholds forum for discussion, debate. Albeit many liberals here feel the only free speech that should be open here is the left wing agenda for the liberals, and only they should have the right to free speech. But none the less these are only word. Since my action speak differently, and they speak louder than words, I'm OK with my words, as it need to be put out there for people who live in an insular world, and fool themselves that is the real world and it's not.

If a women can afford to have operation, to have her breasts removed, and may something done to hide her hole; albeit in many cases the vagina stays, and man was not born with a va gaga; that fine. But If I as a tax payer am helping to finance it at all, then I have a right to an opinion, and I have one.

So if a person is born a women and they ave it in their head that they are really a man, and medical science can help them with their mental disorder and relieve some of their demons fine. But...........this should not be a right of passage into the men's toilets or men only clubs, as we have a right to our own space free of women, just like women have male free space, and clubs. As well transgender people have their own space where I as a real male from birth am not welcome.

But.....action speak loader than words, and in reality I would be polite to a women who has had herself done up to look like a man. But....I would still hold doors open for her, welcome here into y home as it's not a women free zone.

But just because a women has her breast removed, and injection to grow hair and too sound like a man doesn't make them one sorry. I was born with my penis, been seen my whole life as a male, lived my whole life as a male, experienced the hormone change and all that stuff. So diffrent to a person who thinks they are a man, yet have lived life as a women; yet I have lived my whole life as male and always been seen as one and treated as one.

So just because a women has the operations and injections, this should not be a right of passage to all thing male. Mr Universe should be safe and other male only institutions. Lord knows women have enough female only clubs and parties. Albeit they fight to open all men only clubs to women, while keeping men out of theirs.

So I have no issues with the issue at hand.

Sorry but gender is more than whats between the ears, many other things count too.

    (Can't help but bite)

Hey Aunty Jack - you live in Australia, as do I, and so I can categorically inform you that your tax payer dollars do *not* pay for the medical or surgical treatments that trans people undertake. Most of the surgeries aren't even available in the country, and we all pay for our medical costs out of our own pocket.
    So.. going by your reasoning:
"But If I as a tax payer am helping to finance it at all, then I have a right to an opinion"
I guess that means you don't get to have an opinion on this subject after all.

Heh. And good luck working out which men are really women so that you know to open doors for them. I'd actually put money on the fact that you have crossed paths with such folk in your everyday life and had no idea that they were anything other than the men they presented as.. but hey. We all have our little deluded fantasies.

But I do because this is a public forum, and i do have the right to an opinion, as the topic was put out there, and I replied.

Oh down in Oz, such things can be financed out of public money, because the issue at hand is classed as a mental heath problem, and as I said: there is more to gender than what is between your ears.

Though I agree that gender has roots in biology, I think if someone becomes, say, FTM trans, then they should have access to the men's toilet, since they aren't really a woman anymore and they don't act it or present as it.

aunty_jackOh down in Oz, such things can be financed out of public money,

Aunty Jack.. let me repeat this for you. Slowly, and with clear annunciation.

I live in 'Oz.' (you clearly *haven't* gone and had a look at my profile)
    I am a transman.
I know, for a fact, from lived experience that 'such things' are *not* financed out of public money.

I've spent, I don't know, maybe $25 000 (and counting) of my own money to transition. Your tax dollars are safe. icon_rolleyes.gif

    Fearthefall - I've decided you're quite Sensible. I like. icon_wink.gif

Question for you - I agree that gender is pretty much biologically determined too.. but on what 'part' of our biology should that determination be drawn from?

Chromosomes? (and if so, what do we do about say XXY men? (those who have Kleinfelter's Syndrome) or people who have mosaicism - XX in some cells, XY in others?)

External genitals? Which, in more cases than most of us would expect, can be quite ambiguous.

Or brain sex? Which research is showing is quite significant - there are big differences between male and female brains, and, unsurprisingly, transguys have brains like 'regular' guys and transwomen have brains like 'regular' women.

Me personally, I reckon brain sex is the critical bit, it seems the most definitive, and given all the rest of our sense of self is driven out of the brain, why not our gender? So imho, I reckon I've always been male, that that maleness was biologically driven, but that there was a bit of a f*ck up when it came to my body developing in a way that matched by brain..

More shit thats pissing me off today. Couldn't find an email for the Superintendant but found a phone number and left a voicemail expressing my disappointment that they have chosen to discriminate against this individual when by all accounts it seems they have the support of their peers and community.
