I was wondering if anyone has douched with cold water. I know not to use hot because it dries up the anus, but wondered if cold water would be better for pain/inflammation. Thoughts?

Shucks, I thought someone had met my ex, and this was the thread about it.

/I don't have an answer for your actual question.

For me it has been mostly the pressure of the water coming out of the main douche hose. I have a permanent installed in my bathroom and have to be careful in adjusting the pressure. Both tend to irritate the colon if you are not careful since in a sense you are stripping the protective mucosa lining of the rectum, cold water definitely is better, but prefer lukewarm and very small pressure. Additionally, before inserting anything also ensure there is enough lubrication at the end tip of the nozzle.

Excessive douching can irritate the rectum can cause pain. If your experience pain or inflammation there could be other causes...since you should not experience pain. I would consult a physician if your experiencing pain.
