    Predictions?

As some of you may know my boys clinched the NL East Title again, for the 4th straight time last night. Are the Phillies going back to the world series? I sure as hell hope so! Home field advantage would make it extra sweet this year!

    What do you guys think?

I have a nasty thought it's gonna be a Philly New York rematch.

New York Mets: world champions next year. I've been saying it for 40 years now, got it right once--and it's just got to happen again!

A Philly/New York rematch? Don't get me wrong here friend, as I do like the Phillies, but this is the rematch you're likely to get:

    The Phillies and......

    THE RAYS!

Go Rays go....go Rays go....Hey, Hey, Tampa Bay....whaddaysay....Rays are gonna win today....!!!!

No they didn't Pinny. I made that up for the post. Actually, the old Tampa Bay Buccaneers song was running through my mind as I was typing that.

"Hey, hey Tampa Bay! The Bucs are gonna shine....."

Or something like that. That was back in the orange and white, creamsicle uniform days with Buccaneer Bruce on the helmets.

My safest prediction is that the Yankees will not make it to the World Series this year. They lack the consistency of play this year.

The only time I ever correctly guessed the World Series champion in the pre-season was the 1996 Yankees team. They went on to beat the Braves that year for the title.

The Phillies are a lock in the NL, the AL is tough to predict, I'll say the Rangers ride Cliff Lee and make it, but the Phillies will win it all...

A sports thread...yay. Tired of would you pick the guy's nose above you threads.

Great time of year. Philly takes the NL East, and I have a feeling NYY will beat Tampa in 7 games to head to the series. Which, if it is Philly/NYY, that's the tv execs dream. Which makes me think ... how fun would it be to have a Tex/Cincy series!!!

Halladay in the post season after toiling through 320 starts without a playoff appearance.

I have to agree with this. I'd like to see Phillies/Yankees but the AL is a toss up. I might be a little biased but the Phillies will go the distance.

Clearly I predict the Phillies all the way, and being from Philly I don't give a shit who we have to crush on the way there. However I do have some fears:

    1. Halladay hasn't played in the post season. Being a person who deals with stress on a daily basis I can't imagine what's it's like when you have millions of eyes on you and banking on you throwing a strike.

    2. Polanco. Got word that he isn't starting tonight due to back pain? Phillies have been riddled with injuries all season and I'd hate to have some
of those injuries creep back up on us.

    3. The pressure. True we have been in the post season and /or world series (minus 2007) for the last 3 years, but now the pressure is on to WIN!

    GO
    PHILS!

Thank the JAYS for Halliday. Im a HUGE Jays fan and was sad to see him go, but im glad he is gonna get a chance to win. He deserves a ring. The pressure has never gotten to him. He is a cold blooded killer on that mound. GO JAYS GO.........icon_redface.gif

Didn't the Mets win twice? Once in '69 and again in '86?

Roy Halladay's off to a great start with his no-hitter last night (10/6), his second of this season and the second postseason no-hitter of all time (Don Larsen 1956).

Tim Lincecum and the San Francisco Giants looked GREAT on Thursday night.
Then, on Friday night, they started off GREAT, but gave it all away.
I don't have a lot of hope for them.

I'm going to watch my Yankees, tonight (Saturday) on TBS.
I could be very happy seeing the Yankees in the World Series.

    true!

    my fear was quickly squashed.

as for Oswalt..... hope his first showing last night was just a warm up! We need to him too look better for his next start!

I'll take the win however they will give it. The reds just fell apart last night! Thank you!

    GO PHILS!

I like the Phils having home field advantage, because then the Yankees can win the series in the Bronx ;)
