Religious folks have long been predators. It's absolutely awesome when they get exposed for what they really are.

Wow is right. The young accuser sounds intelligent, articulate, and honest. Long is going to have a very, very hard time trying to defend himself.

I'm just wondering where his lawyer is. I don't really think it was wise for him to be talking to the press at all. One thing I picked up on was this guy repeatedly saying how this Preacher (who he kept calling his "father") left him. That the preacher let them go once he had no use for the boys anymore. It begs the question if these boys were all that tortured from what had happened to them, or just upset that the fancy lifestyle they had grown accustomed to had come to an end. I am in no way shape or form justifying the behavior of this sleazy preacher, but listening to the kid talking to the news I could not really tell if he was tormented by what had happened to him, or just bitter and being vindictive because the preacher had no more use for him and their fast lifestyle had come to an abrupt end. This will be an issue I would imagine in the any trial, which is all the more reason that this kid should NOT be talking to the press at this time. I guess it's too late now, but that news interview could come back to haunt him and help get this televangelist creep off.

Why is everybody surprised he spoke intelligently? Were you expecting him to be feeble-minded? Aside from having difficulty conjugating verbs, yes, he was articulate. But none of that should matter in the case. I personally feel like Long is guilty but we should stick with facts and evidence.

I'm horrified that the congregation of the church still has that slime in the pulpit, paying him $3 million a year. He's probably molesting other young boys right now. People's ability for denial is amazing.
There was an article in the Washington Post that quoted people in his congregation saying things like, "even if he's guilty, it's okay. Nobody's perfect."

Also, why is the press calling that piece of sh*t "Bishop."????
He made up his own church and gave himself that title...He's not a real bishop, people!

    That was disturbing:
That glazed over look on his face until he faced the camera to call Long out.
The clear pain in what he's saying.
The calling the preacher father and talking about the smell of his cologne.
    Oh my...just...ick.

Because people who are brain-washed don't automatically become brainwashed. Also, "bishop" is a completely man-made religious title. I may be wrong(Bible scholars can correct me if I'm wrong) but there is no such title in the Bible. Then again, modern Christianity bears little resemblance to what it was 2,000 years ago.

This baptist bishop is so virulently homophobic but yet there is a strong possibility that he commited sex acts with young guys. All these right wingers are closet case hypocrites. They use homophobia and self loathing to hide who they really are from the outside world. The thing that really pisses me off about this pastor is that he claims that he can cure guys of their homosexuality which is a nonsensical, fictitious lie. I hope that this young man's accusations are found to be true and major criminal charges are filed against this right wing hypocrite and homophobe which hopefully will financially ruin his megachurch empire.

Legal and child are mutually exclusive, despite what the varying state by state laws say. Legal consenting age means shit. It's not as if men in their 30s and 40s have come with these accusations. The man is a predator who took advantage of young boys seeking a father figure and a way out of poverty perhaps. Dazzle any 16 year old with what this motherfucker did (trips, money, jewelry, family support, etc.) and see if the 16 year old won't leap to have sex with you if you threaten to cut it off. I'd bet a brazillion dollars the 16 year old would shove his tongue up the dirtiest anus on earth for that. These young men were ripe for Eddie's harvest.

Not in Georgia, where anyone who's anti-gay is presumed innocent. He's already being defended by his congregation and other fundamentalist preachers.

He'll never be convicted of anything in Georgia, nor will his homophobic followers abandon him. This will be spun to show how evil we lying gays are, to attack God's chosen messengers, and will only serve to reinforce his position.

He'll never be convicted because he hasn't been accused of a crime. He's being sued. A chasm of difference.

Bingo! Even though he's anti-gay, he's not universally loved because he donates to Democrats, including Gov candidate Roy Barnes, which pisses me off to no ends that he hasn't cut ties with him yet.

At first I thought he was reading from a script. Adding in the interviewer's voice helped though.

I think it is time to urge all fifty states to enact a uniform law of 18 years as age of consent. The thing that irks me is most of the states with lower age of consent laws are red, republican states in the sunbelt and the mountain west. If you are 18 and over, than you are an adult. If you are under 18, than you are a minor. It is that plain, pure, and simple.
