Ran 8 miles on the indoor track. I was using the big clock on the wall to see how many seconds per lap it was taking me. Since it is 8 3/4 laps to a mile in the outer lane, I was running at about 48 seconds per lap, which when I did all the math actually came out to just around 7 minutes a mile.

I know. It would be easier with a stopwatch.

_Zox_ saidI know. It would be easier with a stopwatch.

But then what would you do for the 56 minutes during which you ran and tried to do math calculations?

This is why I use technology, so I don't have to work my brain out at the same time I work my body out. But then that's coming from someone who counts on his fingers - for addition - so take it however you will.

No run last night, just the usual warmup on the treadmill before weights.

Well my mind is so busy I never seem to be bored so to concentrate on a task while I am running actually made the laps flow by.

    dang, calculations:
i run metric and i keep trying to convert it to imperial because everyone here uses imperial.

it's time the US go metric, seriously ...LOL.

anyway, i forgot to post my ssept 23rd run.

    5 k in 19'27" .
but i had split it in 3 big intervals with about 2 min recov. in between.
    just for the kick.

since, i've had a cold and took it easy, mtbiked a bit and that's it.
(but i'm fine now, i know how deeply concerned you all must be...teehee.. right..icon_razz.gif)

    xassantex5 k in 19'27"

jeez louise. it took me six months to break a 20min 5K - on a treadmill - without stopping.

xassantex what's your secret? is it sacrifices to ba'al? i'll bet it's sacrifices to ba'al.

Brief, 19'30" is about what i managed this spring and summer in the few races i entered.
my goal was to go sub 19, but i just don't train enough ( under 20km/week ) , and though you can't tell, lol, i've actually put on a bit of muscle in the past 2 years , and that's extra weight, whether i like it or not.
so i'm happy to manage 19:30 and i'd be ecstatic if i got to 19' .

i look at your build, and you have beautiful upper body muscles, but maybe you also have to pay the price for it ? i don't know ,but what do you think?
Have you seen Hicham el Gerrouj in his peak years? a skeleton with big lungs !!!..hahaha

also, i think biking helps running , but oddly not the other way around.
i've talked to an ultramarathon runner a couple of years back and he said most big distance runners compensate with bike training because it's impossible and even harmful to train only by running for those events. ( he did the Sahara ultramarathon ! gah) .
