This month 4 teenagers committed suicide. Each story is tragic & could have been avoided: Billy Lucas, 15; Seth Walsh, 13; Asher Brown, 13; Tyler Clementi, 18 & those unknown who have found death easier than life as a young, gay person in the US today.
Please Text: TREVOR to 85944 - to automatically donate $5 to The Trevor Project - the only 24/7 suicide & crises prevention helpline for LGBTQ youth.
If you're interested in getting more involved, check out TheTrevorProject.org, or send me a message.

Is there a website for gay teens to go to in order to discuss their issues?

I'm dead fucking serious. Teenagers don't call 1-800 numbers to talk to people. Their most comfortable method of communication, especially for this touchy subject, is discourse through the internet.

Not doubting the Trevor Project, but maybe for a side project they could create a website that's a safe-haven for people with issues being gay? Or some other company could. Just throwing the idea out there to decorate your already important thread.

    Hey Jake,
Awesome ideas, and the answer is yes, to all.
    - They have created Trevorspace.org - a social networking site for GLBT youth.
    - They recently piloted a new program called TrevorChat - which addresses exactly your point - young people are more comfortable chatting than talking. This service is accessible through TheTrevorProject.org site.
    - They also have "Dear Trevor' - which allows youth to write in, either email or standard mail.
    - Lastly, they run the LifeGuard Workshop - a program that send Trevor Project counselors directly into school, youth groups, etc, to discuss how recognize the warning signs of depression and suicide among their peers as well as to identify the most effective ways to respond to those warning signs.

The website has tons of info. And, lots of opportunities to get directly involved. You should definitely check it out!

True, but 4 teens making national headlines is still disgusting.

Yes, it's awful, but maybe the fact that the media has latched onto this will allow other teens to be taken care of, or to see the resources like these trevor websites that they can turn to

I'm out now, but was once one of those kids who thought about suicide along the way. To your point above, I was terrified about phones and internet. Parents would see I am calling a 800 support line, or they would find history on my computer and see I was looking at gay support websites. I think something that would help would be to have openly gay people/activists go to middle and high schools to talk about how much better life gets. High School sucked balls.

This whole situation of four gay teenagers taking their lives is not only disgusting, it is totally unacceptable. It infuriates me to no end that in todays day and age gay teenagers are hated on and viciously bullied for no other reason than their natural sexual orientation. Public schools should be held fully accountable for horrible incidents like this and teachers and school administrators need to be severely reprimanded even have criminal negligence charges filed against them for turning the other cheek and failing to protect gay teens and other vulnerable minorities in the public schools. I am fully aware that teachers and school administrators have their hands tied in terms of maintaining discipline thanks to parents, politicians and some of these child psychologists but to completely ignore the plight of gay teens and other vulnerable minority students from excessive bullying is dead wrong.

It's time to accept responsibility and for the schools to say no more

Just like schools would NEVER allow or to tolerate kids shouting the "N" word around or beating each other up because of race
It has to be the same for sexual orientation

and it's time for the parents of these kids and the schools to become the bullies
One of these little pieces of shits gets caught bullying? The world needs to come crashing down on them
and there needs to be easy avenues for the parents of these kids to sue
We need to take away the power of these bullies quickly and effectively

People have been trying to push for anti bullying programs and such but the Christians are throwing shit fits because some of them are heavily geared toward stopping anti-gay bullying.
