Ever accidentally leave the remnants of your post-workout shake in the bottle overnight? Whoa!!! Even after washing my bottle there is a slight stench. I think it burned itself into the plastic! Lol

If you soak it in baking soda the smell will go away otherwise it'll be there forever. The plastic absorbs the shit that makes that smell. You kinda have to rinse the bottle immediately after you're done with it. Even if you leave it powder form in the bottle for a long period of time the plastic will still absorb it.

[I'm with as Much Muscle....rinsing it out after drinking that whole thing and remembering to fill it up with soap water once U get home from the gym is the best way to curb that stench...this may seem like a minor issue but the first time I noticed it ...I couldn't believe the stench....also to the the guy who posted about his friend drinking whey protein and his lactose intolerance, they're actually formulations youf find at walmart made for folk with that lactase deficiency...also mixing your whey protein with Lactaid milk i find ...curbs the bloated and gassiness from that lactose intollerance.

If you finish your protein drink at the gym rinse it out in the bathroom and then use soap and water to try and get the residual protein drink out. Try this also:

Do the method above and then refill with fresh soapy water and then close it up until you get home and can clean it with a brush more thoroughly. This way, if you happen to forget it overnight you have been at least soaking it in soapy water and this will prevent the quick buildup of a bad stench.

Try not to throw plastics away. Plastics keep building up in our landfills. Try to keep them and either use baking soda (probably better) or bleach. Then let it air dry for several days. The smell will go away eventually. [/quote]

Overnight? Try a couple of days...in direct sunlight...in the summer. Probably a certifiable biohazard but the smell went away eventually.

Fun stuff to show friends though!

How about the actual smell of the powder....split a container with my friend and put my half in a ziploc bag. Even doubled the ziploc bag and the smell still bleeds out. The whole cupboard reeks of it. I even change both bags and switched cupboards and same thing. What is this stuff made of nd how is it leeching out? Anyone seen the same?

I recently shipped a huge rolling suitcase full of clothes and stuff home (was on a business trip).
Somewhere during transit, my protein bottle opened and got powder EVERYWHERE...apparently Fex-Ex throws stuff pretty good.
Every single thing in the bag got dusted...heavily...and then some.
It took almost 6 hours to all my stuff cleaned, and all the clothes washed.
    Fortunately nothing got ruined, though.

Protein shakes are my enemy. I dread coming home from the gym because I know I need to down a 12oz strawberry protein shake. Fucking nasty as hell. I usually try and chug it all within 30 seconds, otherwise I'd start gagging. It makes me want to act like this.

    Right on handsome!

At least recycle it if you can't handle it!

Any plastic that you put in your mouth, cups, shakers, mouthguards for sports should be soaked in a 10% bleach solution (that is 9 parts water 1 part chlorine bleach) for at least 20 minutes to get rid of any airborne bacteria and viruses that land on that sweet sugary saliva and leftover food on them.
