I honestly feel as proud as when Obama became president. Not because of their ethnicity, but because their ethnicity is finally validated by attaining top status in their field. Considering all the pop music you've ever heard in America, Asians are largely underrepresented. Yes, largely underrepresented. But the Far East Movement represents so well with this lush song, saturated with Auto-tune (hey we all like that), utilizing b-boy style breaks and a square-wave bass with a sexy glide. I bet people are going to try to copy their style, and my hat goes off to you Far East Movement, for representing.

I don't mean to be benevolently racist and in favor for and frantically lauding Asians right now, but ah shit yeah I do. Imma be a rice queen in this thread I don't care.

Great song. And you're right about its significance re representation.

Love this song. Not sure how long the group will last considering that a big part of the success of this single is due to the sampling of Dev's single. They'll have to figure out something catchy to replace her on their next single. Maybe recruit her as a 5th members like how the Black Eyed Peas took in Fergie.

I don't get how Rihanna half represents, ain't she from Barbados?

I think the song's alright. I'm just happy and optimistic that they could be the first ever successful Asian act in the Western music scene. All those divas from Coco Lee to Utada to Boa have tried and failed and will never make it, we need something fresh and edgy to break onto the scene.

Yes, Rihanna represents us Caribbean artists... along with Shaggy, Bob Marley and a plethora of others, we're actually very popular up in the US

Sorry I thought Rihanna was half African half Asian...looks Pacific Islander to me which is technically not Asian in my book. But she's Caribbean? I'll edit my original post. I think the Far East movement will yield another great song considering this one is so good and they're not some singer that was produced by someone else am I correct? It's like Black Eyed Peas but a notch up in the dance genre. And less annoying. lol

It's sounds good but the girl sound's so repetitive. I have no idea what she;s saying.

I honestly find this much better though

It's called monotone. Not repetitive. Autotune. That's why. I like it.

Your link is alright...but she's kinda obnoxious pop. It's like Lady Ga Ga verses European happy hardcore washed down 50 BPM, mixed with Fergie....ehhhhh.....i'll give it a 5/10.

FYI I hate when people say "rock" in a dance song.

K-pop has something going for it, but J-pop?! Gimme a break. Still, anything beats that awful European beat crap.

No i got nothing against autotune. The chorus could be better. What's a g6 anyway? I'm liking the rap part though.

And those girls in the link I posted are doing well. They reached number 1 on top ten hip-hop albums on itunes on the week of their album release which is pretty good for a foreign act. Can't wait to see what's in store for them in the future.

Yeah I'd stick to K-music for dance music, except for teriyaki boyz and m-flo- their awesome. I'd listen to J-music for more alternative genre.

Maybe so, but Taio Cruz is "rocking" his dance song all the way to the bank.

Yup another idiot saying "rock" in dance music to give Americans the illusion that it's rock music, and profiting.

    They're ASIAN!!! Woohoo!

When I first heard this song and their name "Far East Movement" I thought, "cool...rappers alluding to Asia in their name. at least we're in the name. good for us." But I didn't think they were actually Asian.

This makes up for the disappointment I felt on looking up the Wu Tang Clan.

I thought that's the only time you can be racist.

Whatever- point is Fly like a G6 is hella catchy. Also is the vocoder dead or does every modern artist use auto-tune for that effect now?

They've been on the radar for so long, I'm glad they've hit.

Sadly, I hate that they hit with this song in particular though.

My choice was this one with Space Cowboy. It's ridiculously catchy and they hit it out of the park.

I have a feeling "Don't Look Now Featuring Keri Hilson" will probably be released and kick some ass.

And if it doesn't, they will make a mistake.
