I am voting for my man HndsmKANSAN,
He is an awesome guy. He is always here to give help and advice.
I have missed him since he has not been here due to his illness. I am wishing him a speedy recovery. Come on guys; let’s give him a boost toward recovery with MOTD. icon_biggrin.gif

No offense to hndsmkansan, but this "vote (insert name here) for MOTD" shit has to stop.

Jesus, people, do you have lives? And if you're so damned high on the concept of MOTD, then why not let the process run itself?

    Grow the fuck up.

I know it would be hard to pull off but wouldn't it be a nice gesture to vote no one man of the day for one day and leave the space blank in honor of Tyler Clemeni, the young gay student who recently committed suicide?

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidWhy don't YOU go away and let the people on RJ say what they want. It is not clever to post derisive comments in the attempt to make others feel bad about what they chose to do with their time on RJ. It just makes you come off as miserable and controlling.

Thank you for your comeback to ReppaT's ill-thought comments. He clearly has no concept of what RJ is all about.

What a great idea. Could we create a profile in honor of Tyler Clemente and do that? -- would be a nice gesture.

I will create a profile for him and nominate him tomorrow. In honor if Tyler Clemente and all the young people struggling like he did who feel they have no where else to turn

You are opening the door to using this to recognize non-RJ members. There are others who have been bullied and killed, politicians you might want to recognize, etc. You will be making RJ members compete with non-RJ members. Also, even with the best intentions, you are opening the door to creating false profiles. In the long run, this can lead to even further abuse that has been experienced to date. My opinion, while the intent is noble, it is not a good idea.

I agree with this. Instead, why not start a topic as a memorial and we can all post messages to him and for/about him (Tyler Clementi)?

Even better. ask ADMIN to make him an honorary Man of the Week.

I agree with what you guys are saying. I actually wrote the MODs of RJ and asked if this was allowed, so if it's a bad idea then I asked them to delete the profile. I made it invisible now until they approve or disapprove

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about Tyler Clementi being MOTD. It's a nice gesture, but I don't like what it could possibly lead to. In some instances we had fake profiles winning the titles, but now we're giving it out to guys who we know are non-members? This can start an unsettling trend. It's thoughtful, but I'm sure something else can be done.

btw I did vote for hndsmkansan. That's my guy

My comment wasn't an ill-thought one. I stand by it.

People are free to say anything they want. For example, you are free to post a ridiculous thread topic, and I am free to comment on it. See how that works?

In my opinion, if somebody from RJ does or says something that makes you feel like a million bucks, then you should send him a friggin' thank you note; you shouldn't post a thread asking everybody to vote him MOTD. Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, the person you are putting on a pedestal doesn't want the attention?

Maybe HndsmKANSAN likes being the topic of a thread, but then again, maybe he doesn't. Why not send an email to all of your RJ friends and ask them to vote for HndsmKANSAN vs. taking the route you chose?

Well, your heart's in the right place...but you know a profile has to be verified and publicly viewable (without having to log in) to get MOTD. This may upset friends and family of Mr Clementi, as it amounts to impersonation.

lol, MuchMore, we never mentioned his roommates.

If Bill died and someone here created a fake profile of him I would be upset to log on and discover him here being impersonated.

As I said earlier, a topic dedicated to him (Tyler Clementi) is great, and allows others to pay tribute with posts. icon_wink.gif

Not to divert the conversation here, which is an idea with lots of merit (thank you), but I wanted to say THANKS to all of you for voting for HndsmKansan today! I know this show of support and vote turnout is going to make him feel much better.

And again......GET WELL QUICKLY, PAL. (Even sick, he's in better shape than a lot of us---way to go, buddy).
