I finally got a job offer in New York and am moving in about two weeks. I didn't want to come back to Chicago after I got the offer. I wanted to start work right away and stay in the city but I have to pack my things/ get rid of stuff I don't need.

I've been to a lot of cities in this nation but the NY guys are hot. I couldn't believe how many great looking guys there are everywhere in the city, I don't know if it's all the young college students, actors/ models, or because it's one of the gay meccas in the nation but they're in every borough. And the Bronx boys- I saw a lot of guys who looked like the guys in Cazwell Ice Cream music video. There's just something about that latino urban athletic edginess that I have been missing out on living in Chicago. Some estimate nearly 40% of guys in NYC are gay or bi, if not more.

I'm going to have to do some research of on gaybars; never been to one before.icon_redface.gif

Anyway I'm looking for roommates so I don't have to overstay my welcome with family who have graciously put me up at their place and I'm telling everyone I'm moving so I can make contact(s) with people before I arrive. I don't know anyone in New York expect family for now.

Oh my! That must be so exciting for you!! I really hope you ll make some friends to go out with and explore the city. You can try couchsurfing to maybe meet people, cause it is not just for actual couch surfing. You ll also have your colleagues of course. Good luck with finding a flat/room!

    Cheers!

Couch surfing? What's that? I think I heard of that but I thought it was spin off of being a couch potato, which is not the way to meet new people.

From my past jobs people were nice to me in the office but they were older and married. Lots of people my age in NYC so there's other places than work to make friends.

MuchMoreThanMuscle said I thought the women were more attractive than the men overall. I found that NYC gay men were some of the most aggressive inexorable bullshitters I have ever met. But hey that is just me, I guess I am a magnet for bullshit. icon_razz.gif

I've heard that too, every city has them. I guess it depends on where you go or hang out. There's 8 million people in NYC and every type of gay guy you can think of. There are plenty of BF material guys in NYC you need to know where to look for them.icon_wink.gif

Congrats, I moved here from Chicago as well. Good that you have family in Westchester. I am sure you are curious about the bars and all, but please don't forget about other activities as well including a wide variety of things that happen outside of bars. Some advice? It's really hard to meet people in bars unless it is just something like "hey you, want to fuck?" and that person..."...wanting to fuck" People tend to run in packs with their friends otherwise, and it is hard if just not awkward to get in. So, if you don't know anyone yet, can I suggest...

    Here are some resources:

Hope this helps, I wish I had it when I first got here. icon_biggrin.gif

Grindr is chock full in Manhattan also.

No way in hell that 40% of the men in NYC are gay or bi. More like 5%-10%. But still that is a lot more than most places in this world. Enjoy !

    *****RESURRECTING THIS THREAD**********

I'll be moving to NYC next week (well, jersey city until I figure out NYC). Interned there for a summer and staying with friends so I'm familiar with the place.

Anywho, no need for advice yet, just thought I'd post since I have all the final stuff done, pretty stoked!

The grass is always greener! Here, gays imagine that Chicago's rife with what NYC's short on - wholesome midwestern farmgays! The laws of supply and demand are in your favor.

lol I've messed around with latinos from every single borough.

    Wait no.
    Staten Island.

But I've been with Latinos in Hudson County NJ too. Oh god and the Italians in Bergen county.

    Ok I'm gonna stop now.
