Am I the only one here that wears running shorts when I work out?

I admit that I am old-school (and old! 56) but I just cannot get into wearing below-the-knee "shorts" like the young guys wear today. icon_cool.gif

I like wearing shorts and a tank top so I can see the muscles tense up and work. icon_lol.gif

    Anyone else? icon_question.gif

No but I have seen that many older guys do wear running shorts in my gym. Sometimes I don't mind because I have a huge fetish for legs!

That's exactly the reason I like wearing running shorts to the gym.
Gotta be nice to my fellow fetish people. icon_wink.gif

In the gym I wear cotton athletic shorts that come to about the knee, but not below. They are unlined, and I wear a jock underneath. I guess I'm also kinda old school.

I wear running shorts, not booty shorts, but they more than 6 inches above the knees. It doesn't make sense to have long shorts, they get in the way.

Aaaand I get shit for it. Its kinda funny. They aren't terribly serious, but simply funny comments. Then I tell them they are wearing capris, and ask for fashion tips. It works out in the end.

I follow proportions rules. If I'm wearing fitted shorts above the knee, which I often do, I wear a longer, unfitted top. If I'm wearing longer shorts I'll wear a shorter, fitted top. Short shorts and tight top is a little too hay gurl for me, and long shorts with a big top makes me feel like I'm swimming in fabric.

Nah, it just doesn't look right when guys wear running shorts to the gym.

Most guys at my gym wear shorts to the knee, or even track pants.

I had the displeasure of seeing an older guy wearing running shorts the other evening and it just wasn't, shall we say, tidy at all...

Sorry NakedBudd....but I only wear running shorts for running and knee length shorts for hitting the iron. My daughters told me long ago that old men shouldn't wear "short shorts".....LOL

I sometimes wear my running shorts to my CrossFit sessions. I also wear them to my normal gym if I decide to precede or follow a workout with a run. It helps keep the full range of motion in my legs accessible.

I wear running shorts that are about mid-length. Wearing splits or any other short shorts seems like an easy to way to pick up a skin rash from the gym equipment. icon_lol.gif

Sometimes, I wear slightly shorter shorts on squat days. I get a better range of motion and it's really comfortable. It's pretty funny seeing guys trying to do squats or lunges with basketball shorts that go all the way down to the ankles. Before they begin their set, they pull the leggings up over their knees. Of course, it drops back down during the movement. So they have to stop, pull the leggings up and continue their set. icon_rolleyes.gif

the only downside to wearing running shorts when you work out is the whole no pockets deal. annoying to me, so i just roll up the waistband on my gym shorts to make them shorter icon_smile.gif

There are a whole lot of nice looking shorts between running shorts and below the knee shorts. I would pick something in the middle. Even running shorts come in many lengths now.

What socks do you guys wear? I usually wear the no-show type. I see some guys wear these long black stockings. What's that all about?

I wear shorts to the gym, pants are too hot and I trip on them when I run.

I wear no-show socks too, but THOSE I wear more for style rather than functionality. icon_cool.gif

I wear running shorts as well and I love them! Besides, it gives me a chance to show off my rather nice, hairy legs.

Since when is 56 old?! Haven't we all been inundated with the "60 is the new 40" thing :-)

But it's definitely a generation thing. I wear running shorts in the gym with a tank top. Always.
I do have some "longer" shorts that most people say are still too short, but I don't care.
Really, I'm there to work out. And I prefer less clothes. Yes, I like to see my body so I can see what I'm doing. Getting all dressed up in long clothes seems totally illogical.

Also, if I do try to wear all the long baggy stuff that the younger guys wear, I will look even more out of place.

Yesterday there was a young guy in the gym in the "typical" attire - long black shorts down to mid calf, black socks pulled up, so there was only about 2 inches of leg showing at all. Black shoes, black tank top, and the ever-present baseball cap on backwards. And of course, tattoos all over.
To me, that just was not a pretty sight.

Overall, it just cracks me up that guys, especially gay guys, complain about seeing legs. One young guy posted here a year ago that he was "disgusted" by the sight of a classmate in shorts. Seriously? This is like back to puritan days.

So I vote we all keep wearing short shorts and tank tops. The world needs less uptight stuff.
And if you see a body you don't like so much, then mind your own business and just don't look! icon_biggrin.gif

i almost always wear track pants, adidas or reebok.
tank top, or t shirt , depends.

i'll then go change and put on running shorts for treadmill when i do some.
if the top was cotton, i also change it for some better wickering fabric
i see a few guys with shorts but they aren't old .
i also see guys in their 40's and 50's in longer shorts and it doesn't look out of place at all. I mean those guys are in top shape so the body suits the outfit.,

I wear running shorts all the time. Partly because that's just what I do.

However, yesterday while running some guy passed me and gave me a look of disgust. I did have on only my compression shorts which outline the contour of my penis. Maybe he was jealous.

I do it for comfort. When you're out running for sometimes 2-3 hours you need to be comfortable.

Call me modest, but I like my shorts at least knee length.
