So has anyone else watched this show and if so what are your thoughts of it? This especially goes out to those of you in the New York Manhattan area since it seems that show is based out of there.

I saw the commercial for it and it's basically a Housewives with balls (commercial said it) and damn if they weren't accurate with that comment. It's freaking hilarious and gay as all getup with the drama and scandal. I feel bad for the Brazilian guy because it already looks like he's about screwed over. This Austin dude is a joke and he looks like he's gonna be the trouble maker of the show.

I had seen the previews and wasn't interested. Seems to me like it was going to just uphold old stereotypes about fags. I'm good thanks!

I watched it last night at 1 AM when nothing else was on....all its doing is furthering the stereotypes that a lot of us on here do our best to not be associated with...i'll pass.

Edit: the only redeemable person on there is Mike Ruiz.

Uhg, they all need to be burned alive. Well, except for Mike and Rodiney. They seemed the least obnoxious of them all. I mean, this is scripted right? Like the The Hills? These people can't possibly be real. The three shrieking twink wannabees actually broaden and redefine the term catty. Austin is a self absorbed shit starting little prick. Reichen is the worst of the worst. If Paris Hilton had a male counterpart, he'd be it. Starfucking fame whore willing to do anything for publicity.

I saw so many places in New York the advertising for it; it was: “Housewife with balls”
    What a shame!

I actually endured the entire show in an attempt to give it a chance, but my exact thought after watching it was, "This is just another program that upholds stereotypes about gay people."

Seriously it seems like the media is trying desperately hard to put us all into one box.

    Ditto.
Mike's a well renowned photographer, I love his work. He's the most mature adult there, he's the Mother of the show.
Poor Rodney, he's already screwed. He just wants to work and be accepted, okay?! I'll take you baby, come here...
Everyone else, rich shallow spoiled drama fags, hate them!
Can't wait for the bitch fight finale already, yeeeesssss!

So after reading these posts I went to Logo's website and watched the entire first episode.

I have to say it's going to be a guilty pleasure of mine. Are the people self-absorbed, vacuous and over the top? Absolutely. I think they are too funny, and I want to see what these insane people are going to do next and what ignorant comments are going to coming spewing out of their mouths.

Does it reek of bad stereotype? Yes, but so does Jersey Shore and Real Housewives. Face it, this is what sells on tv, over-the-top caricatures of little facets of society.

I just don't think it should be called the A-List, I really had only heard of Mike Ruiz before this show. So it's kind of like when a new artist's first music single is about how awesome they are, I guess that's why people are having such caustic first reactions to the show, since they are self-proclaimed A-Listers. They could have come up with a better title.

The A-List follows the Housewives formula without fail. One review said "The A-List is about stupid people doing stupid things" and I absolutely agree. The show might not be scripted, but it is contrived. I am sure that when Rodiney and Reichen were being filmed making out in the hot tub, someone on the crew sneaked out and contacted Austin to tell him to call Reichen. Too bad for Rodiney, cause he seems like a nice guy. How can you not like a guy that says things like, "I'm feel alone."

Edit- I forgot to mention "The Arrangement," the new show that followed. Who is making decisions at Logo? I can't imagine someone being presented with this show idea and thinking that it was wonderful. A reality show about floral arranging? Boring! Logo is already dealing with a specialized market and then they go with an idea that has such limited interest within their audience. I don't think this channel has too much of a future.

Well why aren't feminists getting their panties in a twist over the term "housewives?"

Doesn't that also carry a certain stigma of the perfectly subjugated woman who cares for her home and dotes lovingly on her husband and 2.5 children without an independent thought in her head

Instead the 'housewives' are crazy woman who reinvented what the term means, because none of them fit that stereotype.

On the flip side....Jersey Shore did a lot of damage to the Italian-American guido image. Although some are guido and proud.

Since some are stereotypical and some are not complete stereotypically "fem" or "faggy", this has potential to turn the idea of the New York 'fag' around, or at least have fun with it.

Oh yes. The show is ridiculous and embarrassing but it's not that bad to where I can't watch it even if I know what's already gonna happen.

Mike and Rodiney are by far the most legit characters on the show. Austin is out of the loop and already going the golddigger/homewrecker/troublemaker route and other two guys who are just the queeny gossip types. They are harmless but the love the drama.

Wallcrawler83 nailed it. As an Italian American from NJ, I have tons of TV shows that revolve around my culture and state: The Jersey Shore, Jerseylious, Jersey Couture, The Sopranos, etc But ask me if I care about if this represents me or not. I don't care because it's entertainment. If anyone is dumb enough to judge me based on a reality doc-soap, go for it. If you are that ill educated in 2010, you deserve to be that closed minded.

"Voting" [aka watching or not watching a certain TV show] is the ultimate way to make a change in the world. If Jersey Shore and the Housewives franchise had no rating- they would not be here. But they do and they don't just do well- the crush the competition. This is why quiet and simpler TV shows never get press or do well in the ratings. MTV has a great little series called IF YOU REALLY KNEW ME, which is the opposite of JERSEY SHORE. Logo has documentaries, Independent films and short films which are really earnest. But in the end, no one talks about them, so they fly under the radar and wind up going away.

Thus if you want to make a change, don't watch these shows or even chat about it! Remember, the more energy you give something, the more interest and power you give it. And if you do watch them [I watch JERSEY SHORE and the SOPRANOS], so what!

That seems to be the problem with Logo. They are struggling. Too many people are voting by not watching the channel. Terrible programs and too many repeats of Buffy.

I still see you don't like using capital letters and have a heavy finger for periods and an eye for not put them at the end of sentences though. icon_razz.gif
