I'd like to share with the guys here that are over 50 and hear where you're at in life. If you wouldn't mind sharing some details:

    1) Age
    2) open with your sexuality or not
    3) where you are at right now in terms of your life
    4) where you see yourself in 10 years.

Fairly open questions which allow you to share as much as makes you comfortable. I'll start,

    1. 58 (59 on hallowe'en)
    2. to my immediate family and a couple of friends
    3. no man's land with my straight life right behind me and my gay life ahead
and working on a perm. separation from my wife and best friend.
    4. I have no fucking idea...I will either throw in the towel and re unite with my wife or head out into the hinterland and see where the winds take me.

So now guys, I invite, as always your intelligent input and the floor is now open.......Keithicon_cool.gif

    1) Age 59
    2) open with your sexuality or not Yes, for decades. I don't think about it anymore
    3) where you are at right now in terms of your life Coasting to retirement
    4) where you see yourself in 10 years. Retired, studying languages maybe? be a historical tour guide/docent? You can't spit in Virginia without hitting something historical. icon_lol.gif

I would also like to hear about how us older guys find working out? I am really putting on muscle now and it is really taking a lot out of the body. I have to sleep like a teenager.

I have split my routine into a 3-day routine. Upper body one day, lower body one day, elliptical for an hour third day. Life interrupts this rotation enough to give me days of complete rest.

And I am diligent to eat well with lots of fresh veggies and fruit.

    1) Age 58 last month.
    2) open with your sexuality or not my wife and RJ members only.
    3) where you are at right now in terms of your life Happily married, but I also feel attracted to other men. Some say I'm bisexual, but if I feel towards a man, well - gay is gay I believe.
    4) where you see yourself in 10 years. At 68, if I'm still alive, I should be partially retired. But not fully retired (I hope) because idleness does not appeal to me. I'm a doer by nature.

Well Cas, i'll take the short off ramp to chip in on my workouts, pretty much like yours, only i do upper body 3 times a week, about 20-25 minutes per, lower body usually 0-2 times but i do 2 brisk 30 minute walks with the dog every day 7 days per. I have an eliptical but don't use much anymore. Have to watch the rotators, but i eat tons of fresh fruit, veggies, fish and steak and try like a bugger to leave the sweets alone

but I just bought two packs of Costco's chocolate lovers cookies today...shit..

Great topic! How about a is the guy above you over 50 thread. No please don't! I'm joking.

    1) Age 51
    2) open with your sexuality or not - yes to anyone who asks but I reached a point in my live where I had coming out fatigue. Now when women become particularly aggressive and ask why I've never been married I might mention it. If a complete stranger asks I also tell them the truth (I haven't been able to get any relationships to last long enough). For most of my new friends, l let them figure it out on their own. Straight people never seem to ask but gay men do.
    3) where you are at right now in terms of your life - I have been in and out of retirement for 8 years now. I am working on projects and investment strategies. I am also back in my home state because my parents are in their final years and my mom had a severe stroke. It was in fact work which brought me back here and out of retirement but that job died with the crash.
    4) where you see yourself in 10 years - my mom will probably die by then but I'm not sure about my dad as he is only 85 and could live to 100 or even more given his family history. I think I will move closer to my favorite nephew and try to get him to ski, paddle or surf with me. I've taught him to whitewater paddle and he loved it but hasn't done it much. He is Franco-American and lives in England so that could mean I would be either in the US or Europe. If I don't like where he lives I may just live closer to his parents which will more likely be Europe.

I stopped doing formal works outs when I took up whitewater kayaking. I use to swim and mountain bike on a regular basis but I never lifted weights. I wish I didn't get so sore from the paddling I do now. I go as often as my aching body lets me. Right now I paddle surf which is the most intense workout particularly when the surf is big and the paddle out requires sprinting to on my very unstable high performance board to keep from getting munched. It is also an intense core workout since you balance the craft and control all your moves with your core muscles. I usually go for 2 or 3 hours at a time, 3 to 4 times a week. I'd go more if I didn't get so sore. This week I've been pickier about the surf which has allowed me to rest up a bit for my WV paddling trip.

To the op I have this message. It must be tough coming out so late in life. Sometimes I think it would be easier to be gay when your young a beautiful and straight when your mature. Of coarse once your gay you really can't easily turn back. I think men of our age should focus more on cultivating life long friendships since the relationship thing always ends in a cul de sac and I seem to be the one to get sacked. My sports have brought me as much male bonding and companionship in far less time than being gay possibly could.

Well to answer your statement FriendorMate,,,,it is fucking tough and I'm truly wondering now what difference it has or is going to make. Yes i needed to come to terms with it internally and that has freed me, yes my wife and I need to reach a resolution and yes, my sons needed to know their dad doesn't play for that team anymore...but i'm really just wondering, what the fuck is it for....I'm leaving my best friend for what, another guy my age who isn't? A younger guy who has the vitality and sex i want but is not committed? I love you guys here with a passion, but frankly what I have seen here does not give me hope that gays live the better more stable life.

In ten years I'll be knockin on 70 and that scares the shit out of me.. were I gay and, like you said, 30 years younger, that would leave a longer future ahead to plan and have a full life.

    It is truly serendipitous.....Keithicon_cool.gif

    1) Age

    57

    2) open with your sexuality or not

Yes, way too much work to hide it. And I hid it with two women, until I decided I was doing neither them nor myself any favors. So I do understand your story.

    3) where you are at right now in terms of your life

Career-wise, not so good, just lost a job I had for 12 years. Personally, OK, maintaining a 17-year relationship with my guy. We are thinking of making it permanent.

    4) where you see yourself in 10 years.

Probably scratching my boyfriend's back while he lies across my lap watching TV. Some things never change. And hopefully to have enough money and health to do some travelling.

    1) Age

    I'm 55 and Bill's 53.

    2) open with your sexuality or not

    Completely open.

    3) where you are at right now in terms of your life

I'm semi-retired and Bill will be fully retired in 2 years.

    4) where you see yourself in 10 years

Bill wants to sell the house when he retires and then we move to Saltspring Island where we can buy a nice place with 5 -10 acres. He wants dogs, cats, horses, llamas, chickens and highland cows.

I have one children's book out in hard-cover and hopefully by then the other six will be in print.
