Let's start with some context. First, we have the disappearance and death of a white WWU student, 18, a week and a half ago that could be considered a suicide.

Now, we have this latest tragedy, white UW student, 20, death looked like a suicide according to initial reports. This happened a week and a half after the first disappearance, when the body of the first victim turned up. I live a block away from where the second victim's body was found and like 3 blocks away from where she lived. icon_eek.gif

Normally serial murderers are preferential in terms of sex because homicide is, for them, a form of sexual gratification. However, a few do cross genders in terms of their victims because it's not the sex of the victim that matters, it's either the act of violence itself or some sort of sick fantasy in the killer's mind that does not require a victim to be of a certain sex, just a certain "type." (in this case, young college student) It's either a legitimate suicide, which most students are saying it's not, or the work of a controlled killer - the fact that the body was likely dumped suggests this, as well as the use of strangulation instead of a faster method of murder.

Am I the only one who finds the temporal proximity of these mysterious deaths more than a bit suspicious?

To be honest, I am the last one to worry about things like this. You need to wait to see if it is a suicide and if they were murders. If they were murders, stay alert (as always) and laugh in the face of (unlikely) death. I need at least a 1 in 10 chance of dying from the threat for it to hit my radar.

Stray bullets, home invasion robberies, SARS, swine flu, and serial killers have not made my list of things to worry about. I would be more inclined to worry about an auto accident or heart disease (and even those dont make that 10% list.)

If it would make it feel more like Halloween I could assure you that it is a serial killer, that he prefers young men but has recently had to settle for young women due to lack of opportunity and that his prefered method includes large knives and rope. Of course, he prefers young, innocent virgins and I suspect that the University may be a little short on that order...

All kidding aside, it never hurt to lock your doors and stay aware of your surroundings in public. Skip the fear but use good sense.

    -stay safe.

Murders happen. But serial murders, well, those are a bit more interesting. Regardless, it never hurts to be carefull. Although, I have to say, your knowledge of the psychopathology of serial killers kinda turns me on icon_biggrin.gif

He's spot on too, serial killers do usually kill the gender they are attracted to.

Of course this could all be a ruse and Fearthefall is in fact the killer himself, and trying to throw everyone off the scent by starting this thread! Dun dun dah!

My ex-bf had an encounter with a serial killer once, and also lived in a house on the same street as one that was found to contain several bodies in the basement. There's some sick sick people out there, keep vigilant!

Your probably right: Fearthefall is most likely the killer, that's why I'm attracted to him. Although active serial killers are typically age 25-35, so Fearthefall is a couple years shy.
I dated a sociopath once: he was sexy & wild in bed, but a little self-centered.

Last month I awoke at 2 a.m. to the sound of somebody screaming in my yard. Turns out he had been shot five times. Once the sun came up and the crime scene tape was removed, I was hosing blood off my pretty brick pathway.

    Ah, city living.

I wouldn't worry. You look as though you can look after yourself. In any case, there are around 15,000 murders pa in the US (and most of those are the result of domestic incidents) and 40,000 deaths pa from automobile collisions. You should be more worried about watching out for traffic than looking out for serial killers.

A couple years ago when I was out from hernia repair surgery there was a fatal stabbing in the apartment building next to mine.

The cops questioned me and everything.

Thankfully it turned out to be a drug deal gone bad, with the victim and killer knowing each other.

Last week I was visiting a friend who lives in a "nice gated complex," deep in the heart of 'Little Haiti" (one of Miami's worst ghettos).
Just before we arrived, we were spotlighted by a police helicopter (along with everyone else on the road).
Shortly after arriving, we heard fully automatic gunfire across the street.
Uh, I won't be visiting him again anytime soon. He knows where I live, and can visit ME. icon_lol.gif

Years ago the Zodiac killer was loose in the San Francisco and there were a couple of killings near a law school that a friend of mine attended. He carried a 357 Magnum concealed.

Turns out the girl was a suicide (students don't believe that but the M.E. said it was) but the boy is likely a victim of foul play as he was leaving a party late at night.

Actually, I hate arguing these numbers, but the real number of deaths from automobiles is likely far, far more. I had not realized that unless you die in the first month (at least where I live) your death is not counted as an automobile accident death. Being as very few people are willing to give up on their loved one in the first month of and modern medicine can keep you alive for a long period of time after you are really dead I would say it is higher... just an interesting piece of info. (from what I recall it becomes listed as a death due to "complications arising from...")

This happens all the time... like Dan said visit Detroit, I used to leave my car door open and the engine running when I bought gas...

The most memorable attack within spittin distance of my house was a samurai sword slaying in a grocery store parking lot. Crazies are everywhere.
