Becoming a caretaker for a child....

    I'm excited to see "Life As We Know It" for a variety of reasons, but I have some thought-provoking questions for you all that were inspired by the commercials for this film:

    Are any of you named the caretaker of someone's child in someone's will if anything happens to them? How do you feel about that? Have any of you become the caretaker of a nephew, niece, friend's kid this way? What was it like?

    I know of a couple of guys on here who have young children at home...one through his partner's previous marriage.
    One has two "special needs" with autism in his foster care. And one works with autistic kids almost on a daily basis.
    Does this seem like what you're talking about? Or are you only curious about more "normal" child raising?
