There were some pictures she came across on my computer. She asked if I was gay and yep. Though, she always knew and handled it well. After she told me she had a feeling, she told me to be careful of guys who want to take advantage of me when I move to NYC, not to get involved with doing porn and to always practice safe sex. She was slightly disappointed I didn't tell her earlier. I guess she'll tell my father tonight or tomorrow.

After a bit of initial awkwardness wore off, it's back to normal: "Don't forget to take the garbage out." lol

Awesome! Congrats on the first day of the rest of your life as an openly gay family member.
I hope your father is as accepting as your mother, and that they both give you all the support you need when things get hairy in NYC (because life always throws curveballs).

Of course she does, she's your mother.
Mothers' gaydar has pinpoint accuracy. If gay men had anything to equal its power our lives would be so much easier.

At least things returned to normal for you. When a cousin of mine came out to his family, his mother was rushed to the hospital -- that's how hard she took it.

She was checking what was on TV. She could just turned on the TV to find out. Well, everything happens for a reason.

I am lucky she took it so well. Now I can date freelyicon_smile.gif.

my mom basically blurted out one day when I was 15... "I know you only like guys, don't sweat that you haven't been on a date yet... did you remember to clean your room?"

It was always a non-issue. I'll never understand the closet cases that make such a big deal of being dishonest, and the delusions they have.

Yeah, mine was the same... I was doing my usual "Tech-support Tom" and I told her. She said she (and dad) have known for a while now.

Who'dve thunk it? It sort of worked out for the best - gave her time to get used to the idea. By the time I was ready to tell her, she was ready. *shrug*

Don't get involved with doing porn? That's both funny & innocently charming at the same time. Congrats on this important step. Does your Father know yet?

Parents often know sooner than you suspect. It wasn't until my 40s that I learned both my parents always knew, and shared their concerns with my sister when I enlisted in the US Army at age 20. They were less concerned about the Vietcong killing me in Vietnam than about my fellow soldiers turning on me if they realized I was gay.

Then later they again told my sister they thought my getting married at 29 was a big mistake. They were right, a disastrous error on my part. And I kinda faulted them for never having shared all this with me. They knew I was gay before I did, yet we never talked about it, nor anything sexual, not even the birds & bees talk, and now they're gone. One of my great regrets in life.

So I envy you, and other guys who can discuss this with parents and family. Be grateful you have such a Mother, and I hope your Father takes it well, too.
