I like to flush my nasal passages with a neti pot in the morning and before bed at night.

And I eat cantaloupe everyday. I cant recommend this to anyone else, cuz I dont know why it helps. But for me it really cranks up my immune system and infection-fighting capability.

Even though it seems to have become controversial and unpopular, I still get a flu shot every year. I wash my hands frequently and keep my distance from people I know are ill.

I wish there was more of Well-Person's Right to Stay Healthy that would allow action to be taken against people who come to work sick as dogs. They should be sent home until they are reasonably well before they infect the entire office.

I use the sinus rinse instead of the neti pot. I just find it easier to use. http://www.neilmed.com/usa/sinusrinse.php

Like heartrobb, I also wash my hands frequently and do my best to stay away from sickly people.

I use my juicer twice a week (on weekends) and juice organic carrots, green apples and celery. During the week, I drink either orange juice or 2 teaspoons of organic apple cider vinegar (Bragg) with an 8 oz glass of apple juice twice a day. Works wonders! Also eat plenty of fresh fruit and veggies!

I do nothing special. Just wear weather-appropriate clothing. Since I started working out I haven't been sick. I don't even get flu shots.

Well I haven't been sick since I was 12 years old so I guess I'm doing something right. Eat and drink healthy, get plenty of rest, wear appropriate clothing for weather conditions and stay active. Getting the Flu Shot doesn't hurt either.

I'm already in the habit of washing my hands a lot.
Plus, I get a flu shot, every year.
And (knock, knock), I never get the flu.

Start every morning with fresh lemon in hot water, I get a flu shot, load up on D-3 for immunity since I'm not in the sun much in the winter, and use saline gel and netti pot. Never sick and I have three kids from pre-school to upper grade school. I also do lots of fresh veggies all year round - 5 to 8 meals a week are all fresh veggies with some nuts and cheese.

i'm with kandsk on this - i use zinc supplements too - but, you need to use that as a method of prevention, not treatment - it doesn't do much to help relieve symptoms, but it's great at preventing infection.

I just eat healthy, workout, and try to get as much sleep as possible. I only use the Netti Pot when I'm already sick to help clear me out. I could never get in the habit of doing it everyday. Even then I find that it only gives me temporary relief...

On the contrary, I haven't had a flu shot since I was in elementary school, and that's around the last time I got the flu.

it continues to confound me how many people refuse to get flu shots, like its some sort of 'Obamacare' mind control experiment that will cause you to...(insert radical right wing thought here)

but seriously - i had the chinese flu in 99 and nearly died - i've been getting shots ever since - and havent missed a day of work because of it. I work with the public from all around the globe every winter - so the shot is just cheap insurance.

I'll admit i probably don't wash/disinfect my hands often enough when in public, thats something i'm going to be working on this season.

My refusal to get the flu shot stems from my not having the flu since i was 12yo and my not wanting to have any vaccine injected into me that seems to have been fast-tracked through approval processes.......i'm pretty sure last year's vaccines had nothing to do with mind control.........i'll worry about government mind control when that socialist in the white house actually proposes imbedding chips in us........then i'm outta here!

Best remedy is to just get it and get over it.

I've never had a flu shot in my entire life, lived in and traveled through some pretty "gross" places, and I'm hardly ever sick beyond the seasonal flu for a couple days.

The other day I saw this episode of Dr. House where they talked about this theory that basically states we're all way too clean, to the point that it becomes unhealthy - the basis for the theory was that the vast majority of auto-immune diseases occurs in the western world, and hardly ever in "dirty" countries (think Indian train carriage with goats in the luggage rack).

As far as I'm concerned the best way to stay healthy is to wash your hands often, but do get dirty and don't worry too much about germs.

A socialist in the white house?

Whatever mind control there's out there, you're already under its influence.

Either that, or you just have no clue what socialism is icon_wink.gif
