If your profile is verified does it naturally get viewed by more guys?

from the RJ advertisement of 'who's online and verified?'. Do they in some way get 'promoted' more on RJ?

What are the other effects of getting a profile verified? My main concern is that I don't want any of my friends to see my profile, especially if I reveal certain information about myself. Granted, I'm not that self absorbed to think that my friends have nothing better to do than google me but I just want to keep it safe.

And besides, what's so bad about not being verified?

Verification is a love/hate thing here. If you are verified then people will except you a little more here cause you have proven that you are the person in your photos. If you are not verified, you may be ignored cause your photos may be of a cute young guy but in reality you may be over 300 pounds and 80 years old (heaven FORBID!).

It isn't hard to get verified really so if you do decide to get it over with then great. If not, no big deal either. You are under no obligations.

Of all the people I've spoken to, I have never even found out (nor cared) whether they were verified or not. Should I be checking to see if they're verified then just in case?

It really doesn't seem that important here other than having the right to vote (woop!). Like I care a lot about my voting powers...

There are ppl who are not verified but go on cam and show there face all the time in the chat. I think having a cam and showing yourself on it is the TRUE form of verification. Who knows these days though? Anyone can fake anything

There are a lot of master of deception within this server.
    Verify or not
    It’s your choice;
just a word advice: before you get too attached to an unverified member ask him to cam with you and be prepared for the reasons why that won’t be possible and…please…don’t come back on here complaining he won’t talk to you anymore…pleaseicon_wink.gif

I dont think you being verified has any relation to your pressumbaly heterosexual friends finding you here on this shamefully homosexual venue.

If you do chose to get verified, guys here on RJ will know youre not fake. That kinda matters when your having a conversation.
And when you get verified, nobody is asking you your mothers maiden name, the street you grew up on or your social security number. So relax a little.

When youre on your profile, click on preferences at the top (besides the search bar) and make sure you check the box that allows only other RJ members to see your profile. So your grade school teacher cant google your name and come here- unless he is here himself.

If youre worried about hetero friends making a profile here so they can find you, thats fucked up and outside the scope of this brilliant reply.

As for more views after being verified? Its hard to tell, because you cant be both verified and unverified simultaneously to have an apples to apples comparsion.

Please do not make assumptions that I think this forum is 'shameful' - if I did I wouldn't be on here. I like to keep my personal life and interests (somewhat) private which anonymity can provide.

I see that if you type the pseudonyms of verified members they are immediately recognized by Google whereas non-verified members' names will not appear. That is what I think is how it works but wasn't completely sure.

And rest assured, I am relaxed.

I think it has to do more with how many times you post, what your main pic looks like, and how long you stay logged in.

    No.
    But starting useless threads does.

If you want to hide yourself from the general public go to "preferences" then select "Allow only members who are signed in to the RealJock site to view my profile."
Being verified just makes it so that you get constantly spammed by people who want you to vote for their 'friend' for motd.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I did a little experiment and googled 'gbob'. And guess what? You do come up here. Maybe not at the beginning as many people and groups use 'gbob', but look through the results far enough and eventually you do get directed to the threads where you have posted. Put in the search term 'gbob gay' and you are the fifth result. If you want to be safe, do not say things in any site site that you are worried someone might see. A determined person can find it. I've met a few guys here in person. So technically, I'm verified. icon_biggrin.gif

But yeah the verification thing is hit or miss. There are/were quite a few guys that were "Verified" but turned out to be fake..

    Heartrob and Gbob:

I had a friend who is not on this site try googling my screen name.
He tried "sundayswim". Nothing to do with me.
I then asked him to search for "sundayswim, realjock". He found my profile as a clickable link, but he couldnt see my profile- it said "page you have requested is not found".
He could however find my forum posts and read them, but he was not able to see my pic nor my profile- so he couldnt tell if it was me based on my replies.

So I think youre OK with your profile as long as your forum posts dont have personal information.

That is because he does not have a profile and you must have preferences set so your profile can only be seen members signed in. If he made one (easy enough to do), he would be able to see your posts and your profile.

You can be verified AND set your profile so it can be viewed only by other RJ members. That is what I have my profile set to. The only downside I'm aware of is that you can't be voted man of the day. But that would only he a downside if you wanted that kind of recognition/

Thanks! I'm pretty sure I set my profile to private on day one as I got a bit scared. I mean to be honest, if someone DID 'accidentally' find me on here, I would just learn not to care - but I certainly don't want it to be majorly obvious in any way. And it's nothing to do with being gay: if I was straight I would be equally embarrassed to have my friends know what sort of porn I watch or how many times I jerk off a day. Embarrassment is not shame...

The reason why I post the things I do on here (no matter how crude) is because I never had that chance when I was younger, I never had and still do not have any 'gay friends' so RJ in a way provides an outlet for me to express personal interests that I have stubbornly hidden in the past. I like sex, I'm not going to lie, and I feel that I should have the right to express that without being judged by any persons.

This is not a stab at you in any way btw!
