I'm from Greece, so I'm used to seeing nudity and male and female genitals. Why though in the US are guys always going to such lengths to hide their dicks at the gym or on in photos on gay sites like this? We're all guys. We all have dicks. What's so shameful about it?

People are such fucking pussies when it comes to nudity.

Because the culture here teaches us that nudity, specifically male nudity, is wrong or shameful.
That's only a tiny part of it.
The biggest part is the fact that most people have serious body image issues, and don't feel "worthy" to disrobe, in public or private.

I agree. It's just a cock. All guys have them. It's funny to see some guys at the urinal who are practically inside the urinal to protect themselves from another guy possibly looking at their cock. So silly.

Not necessarily. The shame part is taught by religion. The body image issues are developed from those who push the idea that anything less than a perfectly chiseled physique is nasty.

I also come across a lot of "adult pics" where guys are totally naked except they have a hand over their dick. What exactly are they hiding? It's probably not as shameful or not as special as they might think.

I'm sure that some of it is because in the gay world, we so frequently get the message that if you don't have a big dick, you're inadequate and not sexy. Perhaps that's not true in Greece, but it's certainly true in the U.S.

it's a shame that some gays and some straight women and men feel that way. i have been with many men who had average or below average sized dicks and that took absolutely nothing away from their sexiness.

If you saw it all the time, it would lose some of its appeal and fascination.

Personally, I like a little mystery.

And why not hide your penis? What's so great about walking around naked?

    Why hide your penis?

    Depends on your penis.

But unfortunately here in the US we're not like the Greeks. Over there, as you know, men walk around naked in the streets all the time. There's no restriction on nudity, as the OP says, so men rarely wear any clothes. Nor are there any penalties for being naked in public. We're so fortunate he could preach this better philosophy to us backward Americans. icon_rolleyes.gif

Technicalities in terminology and word usage...call it what you will. People still need to learn that their bodies are unique to them, and even if they're not happy with it, someone else will be.

No, I'm not ashamed of my body, but again, this thread isn't about me, and I never engaged in "tough talk" on this topic.[/quote] or engaged in posting pictures here......icon_rolleyes.gif

I dunno. Seems to me that people should do what they want with their bodies...either show it or not show it.

For me it depends on my mood. Some days I don't care and it all hangs out, other days the guy hanging out in the locker room and staring at my crotch make me a bit uneasy...

I don't show mine off because I like to keep that stuff private. If you're asking this question, then why don't we all just take our clothes off and walk around in the streets with our dicks hanging out?

And plus I'm not that big down there so I've got nothing to show off about lol.
