When I see stuff like this it makes me realize I have no excuse to not work out and try my best every day...

It reminds me of one day I was working out and there was a guy making all kinds of racket on the lat pull down. He was really grunting and breathing so heavy and his form was terrible because he was using so much weight he had to lean way back to get the bar down but was hitting it hard.

I finally stopped what I was doing and watched him to see what his problem was...about that time he stood up and "felt" his way to the next piece of equipment...

    He was blind.

I felt like such an ass and knew I would never have a reason to not workout. Here this guy cant even see his body, or the results of his workout but is down there working his ass off, how can you not admire these people....

    incredible.

Nice post outdoorathlete. This kid is amazing and someone that I would look to for inspiration. There is another thread on what motivates people, for me it's people like this who should make us all realize how blessed we are. They make the best of the lives they were given and don't whine about the bad hand they were dealt. We could all learn a lesson from him.

Anybody remember that autistic kid who made those 3 point baskets in a game a couple of years ago? I was in the book store this week and he has a book out. I don't want this to seem mean, but I never really understood why that story was all over the news (kid makes a bunch of uncontested shots mopping up at the end of a game) when this kid with no arms or legs wrestles his way into the Ohio state tournament and the national sports media totally ignores it. I might add that Ohio is a very competitive state for high school wrestling. There are disabled athletes who compete against able-bodied athletes all the time and those stories should be celebrated.

A wrestler with legs amputated at the knees actually won the NCAA division 3 national championship a few years ago. His name is Nick Ackerman -- really incredible story too.
