Since American Idol has been in the news a lot lately, with the new judging panel and all, and with the 10th season about to start in a few months, I figured we'd get a discussion going about the show's 2 most successful talents.

Kelly, the first-ever Idol winner, has sold the most albums worldwide. Not to mention a ton of hits on Pop, Hot Adult Contemporary and Adult Contemporary radio, as well as two Grammy awards. She's definitely more popular than Carrie, worldwide. She's sold about 23 million albums worldwide.

Carrie, however, recently surpassed Kelly as the Idol with the most album sales inside the United States. With only about 5 and 1/2 years into her career, and 3 albums in, Carrie has had 13 consecutive #1 country singles (every song she has released to country radio has hit #1 so far). She's won 5 Grammy Awards, and is a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and the first female to win the Academy of Country Music's "Entertainer of the Year" two years in a row. She's sold over 15 million albums worldwide.

Despite, preferences aside (obviously, I like Carrie more), who do you think has the better voice? I was always biased to saying Carrie, but I went on YouTube and found this "vocal battle" someone created, and it really shows how close in talent these two are.

So, who do you think has the better singing voice? And which artist do you prefer?

Carrie is in a completely separate genre, so comparing them isn't on the table really other than record deals and personal opinions.

I like Kelly more just because country isn't my thing and half of their songs sound the same no matter what. Most of the men can talk crap about their trucks, kicking some guys ass for the USA and drankin', while the girls are "strong", vengeful and tell stories about their momma.

I'd much rather be in with the debaucherous crowd.

I think it's dumb to say any singer is better than another, since 'better' is subjective. Put them on stage and make them sing the same song, exactly the same way, and MAYBE you can say one is better than the other. Until then, it's comparing apples and oranges.
