    Have any of you ever tried this at least once? I would love to watch a sleeveless or shirtless tough guy shave with a knife like a man in wooded wilderness. I never saw one in person. (I saw a character in Lost do it outdoors.) It turns me on because I think it is very macho and virile.
    badass = cool + sexy + manly

    It's impractical fantasy fodder, like locker room sex.

    WOW! Some of you here are really judgmental.

    Has anyone ever heard of Gold Magic? If you have then you know you use a knife to shave with which has nothing to do with whether you are poor and ugly.

    Isn't that kind of dangerous?

    For some reason knife shaving makes me think of the Scream killer. "Hello, Sydney." Actually, that voice was kind of sexy.icon_smile.gif

    Mother of pearl looks colorful and iridescent, but in ancient times the people used shell fish in many useful items and carved it with their hands!!!! If it is a real mother of pearl, it is manly for me ! icon_biggrin.gif

    Did you ask for a video demo? There you go, anyway. icon_wink.gif
    I replaced the still images of hunky Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth (born 1983), playing the supporting character Kale in the 2009 film A Perfect Getaway, with those clips.

    So you don't think an attractive scruffy guy shaving with a knife is interesting and manly?

    This as well as unnecessary.

    That and I can only imagine the nightmarish amount of razor bumps I'd get if I shaved with a blade.

    It's not pretty... icon_neutral.gif

    EDIT: Not a picture of me btw, just an example for those who don't know of razor bumps.

    How often and closely you shave, the chemicals you use, and naturally curly hair are some factors that can cause razor bumps. So I don't think the blade neccessarily causes the irritation.

    A straight is so much better than anything else when it comes right down to it. Many people who had problems with "bumps" have made the switch and found it is a major improvement. The fact that it is a whole process designed to prevent you from just slapping foam on your face and pulling a dull blade across it may explain the reported decrease. I have never had that problem.

    To answer the question- I have never shaved with a knife. The closest that I have used is a Japanese straight (basically a short blade and a fixed handle instead of the folding scales that western razors sport.) My usual shave is a 7/8 Spanish point Henckels Friodur or a Solingen (no name) that are better than any triple blade you can buy- the only catch is that you have to take some time. I'll have to post a picture if I think of it...

    That vid doesn't show a damn thing. Who wouldn't already know that you pull the blade of the knife across your skin. I would think sharpening the blade would be the key.

    Johnny Messner (born 1970) is shown shaving with a knife fit, shirtless, and wet in Andacondas (2004). He is one heart-throbbing yet underrated excellent actor. Everything about him (his face, body, voice, personality, etc.) is sexy. I'm glad he's a badass and not a pretty boy. He co-starred with B-list pretty boy Paul Walker in Running Scared (2006). Walker bridges Messner with Matt Schulze, another underrated badass heart-throb, in The Fast and the Furious (2001).
