Vivid Entertainment, the company in question, got rid of their mandatory condom policy and look what happens.

As my porn man-cruch Conner Habib says, a test is not a condom.

Mason Wyler was interviewed by Advocate in August and stated then that he had been HIV+ since May. The company he was working for has at least four brands of their own including Tommy D, Cody Cummings, Next Door Male and Next Door Buddies so who knows if those are the five you refer to.

Remember, the one tested positive might be a straight porn star. It doesn't mean the person is gay, or if it's a man or woman either.....

Old news, but at least now I know that's it's heteroporn.

Mason Wyler once said that although porn companies didn't want to work with him, most of the actors didn't seem to mind- makes you wonder... something else worth noting is that most companies don't even bother to check your status, so as long as it remains a secret you can continue filming/working.
..and Titan media won't work with porn actors that were filmed doing bareback- but not if they do it in 'private.'

Well look at what most porn stars do when they're in movies and such. In most cases, they have sex without any type of protection. Basically, the porn industry endorses unsafe safe sex more than the safe kind. It doesn't matter how many porn stars test positive; they won't stop doing bareback and unsafe sexual videos. The demand for jerkoff material is so high thesedays... icon_rolleyes.gif

Nothing personal to you, but it just saddens me when you say people take porn stars as an example for unprotected safe. Out of everything inspirational this world has to offer, someone would chose to follow what someone is doing (acting) in a porn movie. Plus it takes two to make this decision.

Some people do take pornos practically. They see what they do and they repeat it in their own bedrooms or where ever they decide to shag lol. It does take two people to make the decision, but it only takes one person to infect the other. If the spread of STDs is going to slow down and eventually stop, people need to be more safe with their sex; whether it's porn or otherwise.

On the other hand, testing isn't that hard to come by now. Anyone can find a clinic and get tested for STDs. Sometimes, mistakes happen and people get infected. I know this. It can happen to anyone. All I'm saying is that being careful shouldn't be way in the back of someone's head, no matter what he's doing.

I do, but I'm just being sarcastic. I would love a job that is based on other people's outside behavior.

Except getting tested doesn't mean you're not randomly going to get infected, it's just so you know if you're infected at all and, at that point, it's already too late. For the person in question, at least.

    EWWWWWWW.

Not that it matters, but ron jeremy is an ugly troll that would say anything that'll get him air time. Grain of salt.

It's odd how the only companies halting production are the heterosexual ones- and yet not one gay porn company has even been mentioned even though the HIV-poz individual is a "male doing male films?"

Wow, I hope this is not true. Think of how anti-homosexuality groups are going to exploit this news for their advantage.

This news only indicts behavior, which is chosen, not the state of being attracted to the same sex.

who knows if they were gay or straight..last time this happend it started with a straight porn actor Darren James that later infected 3 hetro girls (Lara Roxxx, Miss Arroyo and Jessica Dee)..not to play to blame game , but this is why its so important for porn to use condoms..Most hetro films are against using condoms because it "kills" the fantasy..
Things have to change in the porn industry because people forget that these actors are "freelancers" which means they have no insurance etc...once they have contracted the disease..they are out..no matter how many times they get tested, its going to recoccur time and time again!

That seems like more of a "support-group" type business (primarily for women?)...

I've spoken briefly with Mason Wyler and Matt Sizemore both of which said that they were never required to take an HIV test, or even ask the status of their partner, before filming. You can if you want to... but it wasn't mandatory. You go on set and- "oh I'm doing a scene with that guy!? ew." The only gay company I know that does, or at least claims to do, semi-regular testing is Jake Cruise.

Is an elisha anything like an ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) test or has the actress who played Jack Bauer's daughter left acting to develop a diganostic test for HIV?

    just kidding

    Back to the serious topic.

I read on another web site that also covered this story that the actor that tested positive was a male actor who had acted in both gay and straight porn, the web site even speculated on the guy's name. I don't really follow porn so the name did not mean anything to me. I don't know if the guy is a well known or a lesser known figure in the porn world.

It still amazes me that most straight porn does not require condoms.

Well, to be technical about it, John Holmes wasn't hetero. He was bi and appeared in several gay films.

good luck explaining that to those intellectual stubborns :-)

While you are at it, also tell them homosexuality is not a decease and so cannot be treated scientifically.

    "decease"? Seriously?
