Do your workouts ever get you so jazzed you cant go to sleep?

    How odd - I have never had this experience. On the contrary, I find that I find it difficult to sleep when I don't work out!

    Good sleep hygiene doesn't include exercise prior to 2 hours of bedtime...same goes for caffeine, TV, booze. I believe the biggest issue with exercise is the increased blood flow leading to increased body temperatures, which slows the transition into sleep cycles.

    Check out 'The Promise of Sleep' by William Dement -- more of an academic read, but fantastic!

    it does....but I rarely have the opportunity to hit the gym early. usually supper for my two spoiled teenage boys and an hour to digest

    same here. If I miss more than a day or so I start sleeping badly. And I work out late (9:30pm) most of the time.

    I used to have the problem, especially as I really made progress.

    Now I have several rules: 1) No caffeine after 6:00 p.m., which means NOT after a workout

    2) No workouts after 8:00 p.m. I really need to be done prior to that time.

    3) Take accomplishment in what I've done at the gym prior to bed. Relax, "feel" what I've done with my hard work and take pride in it. Don't stand in front of a mirror and stare and myself. This actually helps with sleep as I tend to wipe away some of those "tensions" associated with work.

    workout in the morning rather than before bed. or at least do it a couple hours earlier before you go to bed.

    I jizz in bed, and usually all over the bed. Sometimes on the wall too. Once on the ceiling!
