Do any of you know of any American action, adventure, thriller, and/or horror films that star openly gay American actors or have gay main characters? I have never seen or heard of one and would like to. Thanks.
Most films with gays that I heard of are comedy, drama, and/or romance. A gay action hero would interest and inspire me. I admire Sarah Connor; she's an icon to me.
I'm fed up with the current state of Hollywood's mostly poor remakes.

I think everyone except Vin Diesel can agree that Vin Diesel is gay.

But it is true that those who are suspected as being gay action actors aren't actually openly gay.

But I have to wonder also how many stunt men are gay? I'd bet there are quite a few to mention as well.

HellBent is a gay horror film.

I think it was well done, and most certainly is better than The Gay Bed and Breakfast of Terror. icon_lol.gif

That's cool. You don't have to be a superhero, just a humanly possible one. icon_wink.gif

Burnt Money - Its not really an action movie, but more of crime/bank robbery thriller. Yes the lead actor plays a gay character and it doesn't have the regular gay Cliché at all.

Didn't Robert Gant and (what's his name? - the cute guy from Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman) star as openly gay characters in a couple mystery / action flicks?

I thought I read somewhere that they'd started their own production studio to produce films along these lines.

Not only are they themselves gay, but so are their characters.

Action superstars . . . no. But it's certainly a step in the right direction!

I have suspicions about Vin Diesel so there are a few more for the list.

This is an interesting topic though since there is obviously still a prevalent stereotype that a gay character isn't macho enough to be the action lead. He's usually the comedic foil or the villain. We obviously still have a ways to go I guess.

There is a fantasy book by sci-fi writer Richard K. Morgan which would be a fantastic movie if it ever gets made. If I had a private billion dollar fortune I would option the book just to see the movie get made.

The book is called The Steel Remains and its going to be part of a series of books. I am looking forward to the sequel.

The main character is an action/adventurer/ mercenary kind of guy who is one of the top fighters in his part of the world and he is flat out gay. Its not as if anything about him being gay is slyly hinted at or sort of suggested, being gay is very much a part of his life and his story.

The author did not take the easy way out and invent a world where being gay is widely accepted. The character faces adversity because of his homsexuality but that adversity never prevents people from acknowledging how good he is at what he does.

There are some other gay characters in the book too that are fleshed out as well as the main character.

Well most movies about Rome are gay. Alexander the great was a gay man that was openly gay in his movie Colin ferrel had a bf and a wife that's y his wife got mad. But I have noticed that in Japanese anime they use a lot of gay characters like in bleach Omg so many and once u get to a certain point in the series it is stated that they r gay. Matter of fact my fav character in the anime is a lesbian she is a covert ops assassin that heads her department.

I would love to see the book "Hero" adapted for the big screen. I know Stan Lee had hopes to bring it to tv, but I haven't heard any updates about it.

Killer Condom has Detective Luigi Mackeroni, the gay main character of Ralf König's comic book (on which the movie is based). It's mostly a horror comedy, but he's gay, has a gun, and shoots it during the movie.
