Hey there, just wanted to see if there are any other Alien Nation fans out here on RJ.

I'm just now getting into the series with the complete series collection on DVD. Its parallels with still-existing social structures makes it well-worth a viewing (including a couple of episodes that are anti-aging / HGH-related).

I was a fan when it was on, but not sure about getting it on DVD... is the vid quality worth it? Any extras worth getting it for?

I was a kid, but I've always loved Science Fiction cause it's ability to carry import messages and symbolism regarding society. I'm going to have to netflix it soon. Thanks for the heads up.

Eh, humans love water. Let's make aliens who hate it! Human women give birth. Let's make alien men who give birth! The show felt like it was opposite day for the writing staff.

Even at the tender age of ten I was still a smug critic icon_biggrin.gif

I know what you mean MunchingZombie; many of the aspects of Tenctonese species are gimmicky and have the potential of detracting from the show by going for the low-brow stuff. They give that sense of the show being half-baked. The salt water = acid struck me when I first heard of it; the damned slave ship landed on a planet whose surface is primarily salt water...WTF?

Then again, that it passed measure gives me some hope for own future fiction publishing :-)

As for the DVDs, the visual quality is good for a late eighties / early nineties television show. It has not been digitally enhanced / cleaned. The collection has all episodes, some episodes have director's commentary, and there's a "Behind-the-Scenes" featurette. I haven't checked them all out yet.
