I'm very excited that the folks at Youtube are highlighting Sigur Ros. I love this band. They relax me when I'm all wound up. Hopefully people who have never heard them will enjoy this. I recommend buying the DVD "Heima."

I just checked out some youtube clips of Amiina. Pretty cool stuff. I love when people use unusual instruments. I think I recognize one of the chicks there as also being in the Sigur Ros documentary.

This was on YouTube a while back and I feel in love with it. Fans of Sigur Ros and the movie The Fountain will love this...

wow, you guys rock. I am always looking for cool music to teach my yoga classes to. One of my favs is Moby's 18 B-sides album. Sigur Ros and Amiina are definitely 2 new ones I am going to look into. Any other recommendations along these lines?

    Peace.

I saw them live too at the Walt Disney Center in LA. The surroundings were amazing - fitting for amazing musicians...

Love 'em and Bjork too (for whom they opened a few years back). Anima is on this CD with both of them:

Joanna Newsom is somewhat along those lines... Classical harpist.. more indie. Not for everybody, but breathtaking live also.

GSUBE broke up recently. But their side projects live on. My favorite of which is A Silver Mount Zion

Why don't I know who ANY of these bands are?

    Oh, right, 'cause I'm ancient.

I got into Sigur Ros thanks to their excellent album Takk. Their music was so haunting yet beautiful at the ame time and that album gets played a lot on my ipod at night when I need to get some sleep. They are definately a one of the kind band and next time they come to Melbourne I would love to see them live.

I just can't get myself to like them. I've tried, really... but they make me super sleepy, and then I can't pay attention to their music.
