I've got relatives in Ireland, and this makes me love that little country all the more. It really is a moderate and accepting country.

My hurling-playing, construction builder of a cousin was really surprised when I eventually told him I was gay. (He was trying to hook me up with some Irish girls) He immediately put down his drink and said that he was going to find me the hottest man in the place.

Their attitudes towards homosexuality tend to be that it irrelevant when compared to the content of one's character.

edit: oh, and √Čire go deo!! icon_biggrin.gif

I worked a temp job polling the electorate

Norris is an independent, The Irish republicans are pulling a guy in the wheel chair as the opposition...It was one of the funniest things I ever had to ask Irish people on the phone.

Me... So if the election were held tomorrow, which of the two candidates would you vote for Brian Crowley or David Norris?

Resp...I think they wheeling the cripple out for sympathy so the other one, you know....the faggot?

Well you know how your president keeps trying to reform the crumbling, biggoted and selfish aspects of your country's legislation yet keeps getting blocked, filibustered, or stalled in congress due to the bitterness of the GOP over the fact that they lost to a black man.

It's the same as that but our president gave up trying 50 years back. congress holds all the power with a Prime minister/deputy prime minister elected by the majority party and other ministers with specific functions health/education/finance etc
