    Our Current Pledge:

I pledge allegiance to the Bieber, of the United States of Tweenerica. And to the pop republic, for which it stands, one nation, under Bieb, indivisible, with liberty and lesbians for all.

Actually, it looks like Canada is giving and receiving from the United States at the same time, considering the US is both on top and on the bottom. Canada is versatile.

On the other hand, don't you think that it looks like BC is penetrating the hole between WA and AK?

My dear Jamezy the Pledge of Allegiance has always remained true to its words and meaning even for today's world! it is the people that has changed it according to their own interpretation of freedom; and freedom my friend is as varied as life itself! that said liberty and oppression is a personal expression of being. Everyone have the choice to be or not be it good or bad! sweetie don't worry so much what others choose to be but concentrate more on what you want to be!

The world is a mess, I know! but the world had always being a mess! as the old saying goes "The more things change the more they stay the same! you my dear friend is the only one that can make a difference. If you still want to raise consciousness of the freedoms our founding fathers gave our country but had lost an appreciation for and of its meaning? why don't you start by reminding their hetero children how much freedom they are still negating or resisting to give you only because you are gay!

Many things of the old world have been twisted to suit the ways of the modern world, this is true. Yet I cannot help but feel that someone somewhere needs to tell those whom have changed so much good into something worse.. the old saying of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it tell it is"

    ----

Again, I am implying nothing just opening some eyes hopefully and would like some thoughts that pertain to the original topic.. icon_razz.gif

Only two Pardon, didn't see the third one.. though I see nothing to reply to so far that have been constructive, on topic, and non-critical icon_smile.gif

Well... what did you mean by : "This was to be said 40 years ago, think of how the country has turned out to be."?

And yes... USA is a bottom!

I also had no idea what you were trying to say in your original post, Jamazy.

Btw, why does the goddamn video start automatically and you can't turn it off? And because Caslon included it in his quotation, every time I come to this thread, I have to hear it start not once, but twice, and then it continues with the two of them out of synch.

I meant exactly what I said. I am blunt and straight-forward as ever, put a pause for the comma and you'll see what I mean. I hope I am not that cryptic in my messages.

"This was to be said 40 years ago" -> This is true.

    Now

"Think of how the country has turned out to be" -> Nothing implied there just a simple request to "think".

Not accusing you or anyone here but don't be so over-critical / analytical that a simple statement such as that needs to be broken down word for word just to be understood for exactly what it meant. (No offense if it offended anyone)

The "goddamn" video starts automatically because in the "Embed" code there is a part called "a=1" meaning it plays as soon as the browser displays it. Simple thing to do is to just press pause after it starts playing, do so for the one that quoted it as well.

As for your first sentence, read above.

I do press pause, but they start up again anyway. This has happened a bunch of times. They stop, but a few seconds later they start again from the beginning. So now I just put the volume all the way down because there seems to be no way for me to turn them off. (Btw, this has never happened to me with any other video. That's why I mentioned it. For whatever reason, pausing this video doesn't work, at least not on my Mac.)

And I've read your response above and I'm still mystified. It's impossible to tell if you're endorsing Skelton's message. The country was wildly divided then, more or less as it is now. Things haven't changed that much. Some specifics have changed, but the country's still deeply divided. Was that your point? Or do you not want to be that specific? That's your privilege, but if you wanted to start a conversation on some specific point, it's tough to really respond since I think most of us aren't getting that point.

Which, again, is fine if you wanted to be cryptic. But you seem miffed that we're trying to understand what you wanted to say.

Jamezy you were not born much less lived as an adult back 40 years ago, so in essence you don't really know the facts much less the truth of how good or bad things were back then!? and considering this video with Red Skelton it was probably recorded back in the early or late sixties!? having said that those who lived it like my own mother, who at the time was a young woman in her twenties, she can tell you that golden era of American values was just as bad if not even worse then today's lack of morals in our modern world. The only difference (according to my mother) between then and now is that back then people/society was very hypocritical; in other words life was lived on a lie!! furthermore the wholesome image that you see portrayed on this video on society's moral values through the eyes of the media and the books was simply a cover up of the many racial and prejudice issues that were going on at the time, therefore the lack of moral values was no different from what it is today! yesterday's values were very phony, and while today's values aren't any better today people make no excuses for who they are or what they believe in.

Again reading too deeply into my responses.

No I am not implying, giving/making a point, or trying to make/have you or others see a certain way. All I simply did was post this and make a statement/request just to sit back and think of what was then to what is now.

True I may not have lived in those years but I was raised by my grandparents who did. They taught me a lot of the old ways and told me the way it used to be compared to what it was turning out to be 5 years ago.. since then it has gotten worse.

None the less, I am not trying to make a statement here or argue facts/opinions of what one feels the way the world runs to what another feels.

I simply posted a video and requested personal thoughts that related to it and the one line I posted.

It doesn't irritate to when people read way too far down into what I am saying when I am saying exactly what I am meaning, just makes shrug my shoulders and try to help them understand through explanation.. which doesn't always work apparently. icon_sad.gif

Your explanations are very vague! the only thing I see revealing thus far is your statement about your grandparents telling you that things have gotten worse then it used to be 5 years ago!? so with this bit of information your message seem the more clearer now! having said that I will disagree, in that even thou the world have gotten worse, it is only to those who have a traditionalist or fundamentalist mindset, that the world indeed seems to have gotten worse!? for me personally life have gotten better because as the old saying goes "LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT" I applied this outlook to life in my mid twenties as I realized that it was up to me to make the world a better place to live. I used to think at your age that society's and people in general were slacking on morality and values, so I could understand your concerns thou!
