Remember when.......back in the day. I've always loved the simplicity of this video.

My introduction to Jody was with her exercise video. They played her music during the routines.

At the old age of 24, you must have fond memories of when that happened.

    In 1987.

Damn! Funny you should post this thread cuz i was just reminiscing about how it felt back in the late 80's when her music was hot. I love her song "Friends"....especially the (newjack swing rmx) with Rakim rhyming on the track. That song has been one of the story lines of my life. Anyway I'm surprise anyone here on RJ would even know or remember who she is.

Oh and Shalamar was the joint. "Get ready.....Tonite...Gonna make this a night to remember!" I love to hear that on the friday evening mix. Make you wanna go party.

They dont make good songs like that anymore icon_cry.gif

Um, folks Jody is still around!

Her last CD, The Makeover, was AMAZING! It was a mix of new songs, covers, and house remakes of some of her old songs. She recorded with 4 Hero, Mark de-Clive Lowe and others.

She actually released a new one-ff single earlier this year that was my jam of the summer. It's called Tonight's the Night. It's technically a Mark de-Clive Lowe song featuring Jody. In an online interview with the two of them that discussed the creative process of the song, Mark indicated that he sent Jody some rough beats and while stuck in LA traffic she came up with the words and tightened up the melody. She sent it back to him and he polished it off into its released form. (I'm posting the YouTube of the clip below. It's long but worth the listen. If you like it, head on over to Amazon or Jody's website to download it!)

She writes an almost daily blog, does her own Facebook page, constantly interacting with the fans and still does shows, as the photo above shows. I missed my chance to see her in June in Chicago...but it's her hometown so I know she'll be back.

Currently she's working with several producers on CHAMELEON, her upcoming CD that will come out in 2011.

Thank you for tolerating my crazy Jody fan moment! icon_lol.gif

Jody Watley was voguing way before Madonna and proof is right here in this video. Probably one of her best and most underrated song. One of my favorite all time artists.

Jody had the style and the sexiness and toughness to pull off her whole look. She was all class and can definitely teach some of the newer stars of today something.

    And she can DANCE!
Although I don't like this mix of this song.
    The Morales mix was best.

    Sometimes I miss the 80's!! A lot!!
I miss the first time I heard Nasty by Janet .... its like the lights came on for the first time and R&B became a part of my soul!
    So dramatic, I know! hahaha!
But it was an amazing experience!! The discovery of MUSIC!

Well, the way we Gen Xers felt about our music in the 80s is how the young Millennials felt about Britney and Christina and N'Sync when they were hot and how teens these days feel about Gaga and whomever else is popular. Katy Perry I guess. Rihanna. I dunno, lol.
