Gays have no right to serve, just like short people

That's the understanding of Barney Frank's GOP challenger, Sean Bielat.

"There's no absolute right to serve. Men under the height of 5 feet, 2 inches can't serve -- I don't see anybody protesting. Where are the people standing in front of the White House, the short guys standing in front of the White House? You don't see it," Bielat told the Boston Herald. "We understand that there's no absolute right to serve in all these other areas," he continued.

    Bielet has also said:

“I think the policy works. I don’t see a reason for repeal.”

So when GOProud takes an ad to attack Frank, I guess they are essentially promoting Bielat's chance of winning. A man who says gays have no right and that DADT works.

Elegant point. Except don't try to tell that to the rabid Republican supporters here on RJ (and we know who THEY are).

I love their explanation: we claim to be gay ourselves, and to support fellow gays, except we just like to champion and vote for anyone with a radical anti-gay agenda. So just continue to believe we're one of you, and ignore how we actually act & vote. Yeah, right... icon_rolleyes.gif

People of that height cannot have the same strength as a taller person while maintaining maneuverability. I know this from personal experience. Even at barely 5'5'' if I wanted to be able to lift the same as someone who is 6' I would have to become a mini-hulk. They also do not fit safely into combat vehicles and unless their arms are freakishly long will have a hard time handling an M-16.
Being gay doesnt affect your service. Unless of course, you are short and gay icon_lol.gif

This surprises me. When the Carl Vinson and John C Stennis came to Hobart a few years ago, the city was flooded with these tiny, muscular, polite and well-groomed men.

I've never seen so many short people in one place (and I used to live in Tokyo!).

I loved having both short and gay men in the US military. I suspect that there is a don't ask, don't tell for height as well. icon_biggrin.gif

Goes to show you these are far right lunatics and the truth is slowly dribbling out when you get to know them

Voting for these nutcases .... and I mean all of them
is something we as a Nation are going to regret
on the scale of a George W Bush
and we all remember how that turned out icon_neutral.gif

GOProud members were born with a silver dildo in their mouths.

I can't believe they are, in essence, supporting Bielat by attacking Frank.

    What a bunch of creeps.

Short people would be great as tank crews because i was little more tall i could not get in the armored mechanized units. At least here there is no problem if you want to serve in the army.icon_biggrin.gif

We may not have a 'right' to serve but there are those who want to serve our country! Isn't that enough? Isn't it about putting the best man in for the job?

I know I'm probably going to get some flack for this but here it is: if the military doesn't want us to be ourselves then I say we should stop enlisting and leave the military. And honestly, do men under 5'2" make that big of difference?

On a side note: did the military say the same kinds of things before it was desegregated?

The hate and fear don't change, only the target.

Ugh! You're just too much!!! Can you name a single member here who champions and votes for anyone with a "radical anti-gay agenda"? I kind of doubt that. Sorry that you can't seem to grasp the very real concept that there are many gay Republicans. Doesn't mean they are out there voting for the candidates who are "radically anti-gay". Of course, in YOUR eyes, anyone who isn't a left wing radical must be radically anti-gay. icon_rolleyes.gif Sorry, in the real world, even gay Republicans can think for themselves.
