What did you think about the album ?

At first, I saw Linkin park perform at the VMA's the song Catalyst, and heart it on the radio. I was really pissed off and dissapointed about the new sound.

Then, I got curious, took a listen to the whole album, and then I realized that I really judged them too fast. This is one of the best album I've heard so far.

Mainly for that reason that it IS an album. It's not only a bunch of songs put together. It has this continuity, this unifying message that is at the root of every song.

Even their sampling of speeches are, to my eyes, full of signification. Their rendition of Martin Luther King's speech "Wisdom, Justice and Love" fading out to a robotized voice is so telling...

My favorite tracks are : Robot boy, Wretches and King, Iridescent and Waiting for the End.

Now let me hear your opinion !

They FUCKIN sold OUT and the New Album is BAD! The music they been making recently is horrible, and I think most fans would agree if you have been listening to them since the beginning. I think they really dramatically changed since where they began and to now. I blame it now on their new found success being more mainstream which usually ruins many good bands.

I haven't been listening Linkin Park from the beginning, never really been a huge fan, I would just listen to the song that would get through the radio.

But I don't agree with you on what I underlined. I think every band has to evolved, change its sound. Would you imagine the Beatles getting stuck at their "boys band" era with "She loves you" and "I Want To Hold Your Hand" ? If they did so, I think nobody would know who Paul McCartney is, today.

Of course, it's very different, and some stuff sounds pretty "mainstream" (although, it's still very far from what's on the radio right now), some of this stuff is very deep and I was really impressed with this audacious new direction they're taking.

I like it. Waiting for the End is epic. Percussion song gets me so good and the video is awesome and creative, The only annoying thing is too much short songs inserted here and there, Good effort overall though. icon_smile.gif

I've never been a huge fan of their stuff so I was quite surprised when I heard The Catalyst on the radio. I didn't realise it was them until the back announce was made. I don't mind what I've heard but I probably wouldn't get the album.

Like most albums of Linkin Park.... the songs have a sequence .... and this one, to my consideration is a piece of art.

The lyrics ... and music ... the percussion .... it is a very beautiful album and I love it!

    Newest album sucks.

I already had a post about it in here and it was pretty much agreed that over half the album is crap.

However, Wretches and Kings is a great track.
