lookin4varro saidactually, as a former muslim, i have to admit that ayaan is not only dumb as cat shit but she is a despicable opportunist.

she grew up in an ultra-tribal community and someway somehow managed to associate islam with tribalism just because her family mixed their tribal crap with islam. i call bee ess on her and her crappy books. my parents are full-fledged muslims who pray five times a day, yet my mother never dons a veil, is a retired dentist, and my father had never raised his voice on her. my parents know i am gay and they know that my brother has premarital sex with his current italian girlfriend. so ayaan can shove it up hers and every european racist who supports her nonsensical writings. any smart european would dismiss ayaan instantly but the rise of anti-immigration dutch and german movements was a great opportunity for her to become famous. in america, before 9/11 no one knew who she was, but now, she is taking advantage of the rise of anti-muslim sentiment here in the u.s, and so she's rearing her ugly head in this side of the atlantic.

i feel bad for her for growing up that way in a tribe. it must have been tough. and i am glad she escaped it and is now living a good life. but please realize that she and the way she was raised do not represent mainstream muslims. she is a victim of tribalism, not islam.

she should spend less time tarnishing muslims and instead focus on getting more thick pink uncut dutch cock while she can.

ive meet openly gay christians. Are there any openly gay muslims that openly go to mosques and all that?

um...you do realize that what you are saying is extremely biased and you're parents/family are not real muslims. you just cant chose what verses in the Koran to practice. saying that i do understand that there are moderate muslims and your parents/family are probably that but they arent the real muslims as the bigots, backward individuals who still think they live in the Dark Ages.

    Secondly,
Have you even read the Koran and understood it?
There are verses in the Koran where the woman(your mother) is told to cover herself except her hand and face.
There are verses in the Koran where the woman/man (your brother) cannot have sex before marriage or they will be whipped 100 times.
There are verses stating that a woman has to be available to the man for sex at all times and if that does not happen he can hit her as much as he wants.
There is a story (which is one of many) in which Mohammed’s people rip a woman apart when she is breastfeeding her child and bring it to him and he says something like “even goats wouldn’t fight over it” (as in this matter is not of importance)
YOUR family isnt a true muslim family SINCE you do not practice all of those but choose to practice some.
After all that being said, I really hope I get to read the Koran. Im buying it tomorrow hopefully.
please do not "call bee es" on Ayaan or her "crappy books". Have you even read them?
She is not talking trash. she is exposing islam. i think im fine with moderate muslims aka western muslims but the people in the middle-east piss me off. She is just exposing them and in the link for the video she even says something like " we have to get moderate muslims to see through the dark". I’m not hating on Islam. I’m just criticizing it and unfortunately muslims are taught that questioning islam is hating it. Dont women deserve equal rights? Dont they deserve a life of their own? Why do only women wear hid jab and not the men? Take these questions into the context into which they apply to.

First of all I really hope you read that book. I have read it on multiple occaisions and as someone who is mixed race, surely you wont call me racist as I agree with much of the view points she states. What you wrote above maybe true for your family (if its true) but the fact of the matter is the majority of Muslim families are very very strict, hate homosexuals, and does not condone premarital sex. Also as a woman both in her tribalistic nation of Somalia and in strict sects of Islam in which she was raised, she could never enjoy the freedoms that women have to day.

She points out demographics that showed an increasing number of Islamic youth in Europe who unlike their parents were becoming increasingly radicalised. As a former muslim like you say you are Mr. lookin4varro, and homosexual, a lifestyle in which she so happens to support by the way, one such as myself can only imagine why you have written such ignorant things about her.

In many cases in her book, she even praised Islam for being a religion that can break any racial boundaries (even though Christianity does as well). I didnt read of one racist bone in her body...

Sorry, but you're taking versus out of context of the appropriate suras and using them just as any of the fanatical imams are doing.

As a former muslim myself being raised in saudi arabia. My father still lives over there and so does my brother and the rest of my fathers family..

I tend to agree with what was said. My step mother and father pray at the designated times. They believe in the faith. However my dad never raised his voice towards my step mother in anger.. Nothing of the sort. She diesn't wear the shiela, nor the abaya when she's at home.

The verses you're talking about where the mothers/sisters are to cover up is when they're out in public with complete strangers. And the reason behind that is so that no harm will befall them as they should be escorted by a male of the immediate family (Father, son, brother) for protection..

Believe what you want to though. it seems that many will put something down they do not understand.

Judge all you want to, i know what i grew up with for 15-16 years. It's nothing what a huge many have been spewing on this site.

    I love Hirsi Ayaan Ali

She was one of the fervent opposers of Islamic suppression of women and I wasliving in the same country as her (the Netherlands) when she became famous as such.. I saw her on TV out there pretty much every day

She reminds of an old friend of mine, an Ethiopian girl born in Holland, who was also muslim... She told me when her grandmother died, she, her mother and her sisters were standing in the kitchen cooking for a week for all the male relatives that would come by and sit around the house supposedly to give their condolences according to the tradition... she did not even get a chance to mourn her own grandmother in all that time she felt..... then at the end of the week (8th day) when the body is buried... she was home and asked her mom why they werent at the funeral.. the mother replied it was traditionally only men allowed at a funeral.... My friend became completely enraged and left Islam immediately

In my own family, My great-great-grandparents were not allowed to marry, because they were different tribes and islamic sects (Persian-shiite and Kashmiri-sunni)... they had to flee the East to come here on an indentured worker-boat to become like slaves on the South American plantations, just to be free to marry....

Outside of my own experience, I saw on Youtube a video about a hindu man and muslim woman in Malaysia who were married and had a child... the authorities took the child away form the parents to raise it as a "proper muslim" and put the muslim woman in an asylum like a crazy woman for having married a man form the "wrong religion"

These stories give me nothing but pure murderous rage....

Surely you are a former Muslim right?
Firstly, a Western woman can down the street in New York city and not be accosted for the way she dresses. A woman here has freedom of choice what to wear and they dont have to cover their hair in public to be respected and free from harrassment. In Pakistan, the country has one of the highest rape rates in the world, yet the women in those are covered quite extensively.

It puzzles me to think that you lived in Saudi Arabia where women are to be covered in black from head to toe, cannot drive, nor can they do their shopping without a male escort. Surely this is not equality in which a homosexual like yourself would like to be treated?

Hmm...according to you, I guess it really isnt huge to see a woman stoned to death for sleeping with a stranger. I wonder what the price for homosexuality is down in Saudi Arabia. How can you defend that?

is presumptuous of you, someone who knows nothing about islam and who is hindo or whatever religion you follow, to tell me that my family is not "real muslim" ....

Yes yes and yes, you can choose what verses to practice because times change and the abrahamic books (torah, bible, koran) were written in different times for different peoples. jews do that and christians do that. they, too, choose what "verses to practice"

yes, i have read the koran. and no i dont understand all of it because it is very complex and dense. but i know the parts related to the veil.

yes, backwards muslims live in the dark ages, but so do backwards christians and jews. there is backward and progressives in every abrahamic faith, silly!!!

It is so typical to see "Christians" and "Jews" brought up when one tries to defend a faith they say they no longer practice. You live in a predominantly Judeo-Christian society, you know the one that allows to live homosexual without fear of death, yet you defend a society which would be so quick to harm us. Puzzling!

Jesus, we were talking about Ayaan Hirshi Ali.

She is a VERY intelligent woman. She is obviously an extremely driven and ambitious person too.

She came from what's in the top-3 of shitholes in the world, Somalia, and made it to an MP in the Dutch parliament. Then she made it across to the US and joined an influential think tank.

So mr. muslim in this thread, how dare you call her "dumb as cat shit" and "a despicable opportunist". She is the ONE person that actually survived having her clitoris sliced off and then being suppressed by tribal monkeys who practice your retarded religion. She is WAY smarter than every single one of us, and deserves nothing but respect and admiration of how she went from rags to riches.

What you describe of your own family is all Stockholm syndrome. All those retarded regulations on wearing veils, treatment of woman and gay people, it's all barbaric and medieval.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't wanna live in a brutal theocratic state like Saudi-Arabia, and prefer to stay nice and cozy in the US.

And she doesn't have to 'tarnish' any muslims. There's nothing to tarnish if it's already pitch black.

and here we have another man with a potato instead of a brain. i no longer practice islam because i could not believe in the virgin birth, the ascent of mohammed to heaven, and voice of god speaking to mosus through a bush. in other words, my abondonning the faith has nothing to do with islam. it has to do with rejecting things that i cannot back by science or direct experience.

stop attributing western society's acceptance of homosexuals to the judeo-christian faiths. acceptance of homosexuals has more to do with the rise of humanism and decline of the church. and now people have been changing the traditional church to accept homosexuals. if the churches and synagogues reigned supreme in this country the way the salafi mosque does in saudi arabia, this country would be as barbaric and cruel to homosexuals as iran or sadia arabia are. make no mistake about it.

i am sure pat robertson is disgusted by you.
    [/quote]

The Judeo-Christian countries advanced to the point where they managed to create secular systems.

The Islamic world failed and is still stuck in medieval times.

So the western acceptance of gay people is despite religion, not thanks to. Religion always has a much more tighter grip on backward societies. It's a bit of a vicious cycle, but look at the islamic world and it becomes VERY clear what's what.

So what are you exactly arguing here?

As Shan said, not worth our time...no one was attributing the acceptance of homosexuality with Judeo Christian churches. However it is great to see that many gay Christians who want to keep their faith have the support of many churches these days...cant say the same for anything in Islam.

Gee, i don't know.. You tell me why there's tons of gay bashing in the US and not really anything people are "really" doing anything about. You tell me, why the United states is supposed to be "the land of the free" and yet when it comes to minorities time and time again get kicked in teh teeth for saying they want their rights. You tell me why it's okay for the religions zealots in this country to dictate what your life should be like..

Dunno why can you sit there and defend your so called rights based on what others are saying the "holy" bible is telling you to do.

Granted there are extremes in Islam. I'm not going to sit here and say that i wasn't against the "sorcerer" getting punished for having a station or a channel in another country mind you.. I'm not going to sit here and say it's okay that women get stoned (also based on the male having 4 witnesses and she had 0 for an alibi).. Even though the court system is still some what skewed in saudi arabia.. It is getting better.

When you generalize and place the entire race of arabs or the entire faith if islam under one bbox.. you bet im going to stick up for it. Basically, you're clumping my father and my brother and the rest of my family in with the people you're generalizing about. And i know first hand that my family would never do such a thing when it comes to anything you people call extreme or anything of the sort.

If you're going to point the finger at the entire faith.. you need to do so and do the same for your own.

    Just sayin.

Basically, you're clumping my father and my brother and the rest of my family in with the people you're generalizing about.Just sayin.

    a) Arabs are not a seperate or distinct race, rather part of the Caucasian race
    b) Who incited hatred against the Arab people? Ayaan Hirsi Ali is from Somalia which is what everyone was talking about before this went off topic

lookin4varro saidactually, as a former muslimsisters are to cover up is when they're out in public with complete strangers. And the reason behind that is so that no harm will befall them as they should be escorted by a male of the immediate family (Father, son, brother) for protection..

Judge all you want to, i know what i grew up with for 15-16 years. It's nothing what a huge many have been spewing on this site.

    Just sayin.

So the "my religion is better than your religion" is a stupid discussion.

Christianity, judaism, islam - they're all evil and used by bigots and extremists and haters.

However, the western world has limited the influence religious institutions can exert over public and political life. And most citizens of western countries think along more humanistic lines than the average citizen of an Arab country.

Nobody is pointing fingers at Arabs as an ethnic group. We point fingers at the backward thinking that is prevalent in Arab (and African) countries. We're talking about islam cause that happens to be the topic of this thread.

There are many other threads about the christian haters in the US.

I also said the islamic faith bud..

If you haven't been paying attention to several other "We have islam" threads that have popped up on the site well forgive me for including the arabs into it as many have also stated the same for arabs.

Say what you want. I'm not trying to down you by any means. However, my request would be to stop generalizing and clumping every muslim and ever arab with every degrading comment.

When you do so you're including a bunch of people have no ill will towards anyone. My family included. That's when i take it person when people generalize. When that happens the only thing i can think of is "Wtf" did my family do to you?

    Make sense?

Besides Ms. Ali has stated sever degrading things in her book that was definately generalizations towards the entire faith. Not just her tribe. So, excuse me if i take whatever she says with a grain of salt when it comes to islam as a whole.

Yeah she had a hard life. I'm not knocking her on what she's been through. I'm knocking her simply on what i've stated above. When people generalize, they're clumping people that did nothing wrong into the same catagory as those who did something wrong to the accuser.

Does this break it down enough for you?

So I never said Islam was my religion.. See my previous post if you need further information on why im taking a different side than you are.

I never "claimed" that any religion is better than the other. I merely stated my peice, do not generalize. That's all i'm saying and actually for the most part on all the other "arab""islam" threads that's the point i kept trying to get across.

People being religious doesn't mean they're bigots btw, although i will agree that both bigots and terrorists will use religions to hide behind saying "This is okay because it's written right here" when it was completely taken out of context.

And for the record? i'm agnostic. My mother is Roman catholic and my father is muslim. Does that tell you why i'm so fucked when it comes to faith? icon_smile.gif

Hmm, I understand what your saying and if you have read anything to offend u towards your family, my apologies. However I and the others have not mentioned anything regarding your relatives, rather the attitudes of Saudis which I know for a fact have an almost completely negative view of homosexuals. No one was uplifting Christianity and Judaism, but when it comes to the prevelance and systematic oppresion of homosexuals and religious minorities, it seems that in many Islamic countries, WE, homosexuals have a bad rap.
