What supplements do you use?

So I'm getting back into the gym after a long hiatus. My plan is to spend a couple months focusing on swimming and getting re-acclimated to weight lifting. Once I get back to where I was, I wanna start packing on some real mass (something that has always eluded me).

I've used creatine monohydrate pre-workout forever and whey protein but I'm looking for something to really help me along once I start really lifting hard again. There are just so many different things out there and not a whole lot of information.

So my question is: What supplements have you used successfully or unsuccessfully and what do you recommend?

I've used pretty much that - creatine and protein shakes. I don't like the idea of putting all kinds of chemicals in your body, the natural way is usually the best way.

I'm sure many will disagree though.

Another reason why I'm against supplements for me personally is that because of a long row of injuries and a surgery, I have to hold myself back instead of push myself - so supplements that create a sort of artificial strength are dangerous as they make you feel stronger than you really are, making you prone to tearing up your joints.

I like Nitrocore by Optimum Nutrition. I've also used whey protein isolate by Optimum Nutrition as well.

Stop by a GNC and get a platinum card. One week of spending money on deals at the beginning of the month offsets the cost of the card.

I agree that a lot of supplements can be either ineffective or, worse, dangerous. I wouldn't consider something that I can't find a good double-blind study about. I'm not about loading up my body with crap that I might regret using later.

I've had some good results with the creatine and protein. Some of the others I was looking into were Glutamine, Anabolic Flavones, Amino Acids and Nitric Oxide.

Too bad about your joints. It's definitely a big part of decision to swim rather than run. It's so much easier on your knees!

I just switched my protein powder to Natural Edge Whey Protein and as far as supps go I tried a 2 week trial of Nox Edge and did notice a difference in my energy at the gym but I didn't really see any gain in size...I am now contemplating on whether or not to start taking this stuff called HGH Complete & TestoRx, anybody taken that stuff? Results?
