I went to that link from apple.com I found it weird that apple promote it even though it was reviewed on MSNBC, which is OWNED by Microsoft! Don't you think that's weird? That's like North Korea lauding the US.

Btw I think the guy in the video is really cute.

No, it's not weird at all. There's nothing unusual about this. MSNBC and msnbc.msn.com news sites are objective news organizations.

A company usually seeks the rights to link to a news organization's product reviews, so I wouldn't doubt if Apple contacted msnbc.msn.com's marketing staffers for approval prior to linking.

Technically, Microsoft is a co-owner of MSNBC. MSFT "owns" approximately 18%. NBC Universal owns the rest + most of the licensing rights. In no way does MSFT have any say about what MSNBC or msnbc.msn.com can provide as content.

NBC Universal, MSFT and Apple all do well with something like this. NBC Uni. and MSFT make money from ad revenues (not a lot for just one story, but that's irrelevant), and Apple makes money through positive PR/reviews (aka, free advertising).

How would that be weird? Apple makes iTunes for Windows, Microsoft makes Office for Mac. It's a fucking news website. They probably use Macs and iPhones for half of their staff.

Is there really any such thing these days as an "objective news organization"?
