Murder vs Suicide

Which is worse? Sometimes I feel like killing myself. It's pretty much a common ground that most gay people have.

Other times, I feel like it would be better to just kill the people who lash out against us. Yeah it would send me to prison, but at least I'd still be alive with the hope of eventually getting paroled...not to mention there being one less hater to deal with.

Let's get real -- Most of these haters want us dead. They praise the suicides. Each one makes them feel even more superior to us, because we're taking ourselves out, saving them the trouble.

So, next time one of us is feeling depressed with no way out, would it make more sense for that person to take his or her own life? Or would it make more sense to kill one (or more) of the people who are bullying, hating, slamming, and in general making our lives miserable?

Yes I know there are other ways of handling the situation, otherwise I'd either be dead or in jail right now. But assuming someone feels there is no other way, which option would be better? I'm leaning toward murder, but not to the point that I would advocate that as an option just yet. I just want to hear other people's opinions.

PS. If you want to answer with "murder-suicide combo" feel free. It's your opinion and I won't hold it against you.

icon_eek.gif Is this one of those questions where both answers are wrong but you're still forced to choose?

Yes; and I'm not the one who's asking it. So far, people have been choosing suicide.
I'll rearrange the question just for you: If you saw a news article where a gay man was being harassed to the point that he killed his bully, would you sympathize with him? Or would you say it would have been better if he'd killed himself instead?

Oy, that's a loaded question. I would sympathize if he was harassed for being gay. But if he was harassed for other reasons I wouldn't sympathize as much.

Yes, it is a loaded question; and I appreciate your honest answer.

Killing the people who lash out at us does not make us any better than they are. By killing myself, I give power to them. The point is, don't give them power... But don't go snuffing them out either, as that would make you just like them, as you become the perpetrator of death, evil and destruction - the very thing you hate.

We all need to realize that other people only have power over us if we give them power. Otherwise, we fall prey to the "victim mentality" and whine about "what they're doing to me, I'll go end it all".

They can destroy this body, but they cannot destroy my soul. (I'm sure someone said this before). Perhaps Victor Frankl has some insight on this, from his experience in the Nazi camps.

This guy is not just a moron, but also a cheapass... he copied and pasted this response to other topics.

So STFU & GTFO you fucking troll. You're not even a proper troll. You copy paste! That's like the most pathetic troll ever.

So as far as the original question goes:

I'd say murder. The murderer would go to jail, and his life would be effectively over. However, it would be featured on every single news channel, and maybe, just maybe, gay people need their own martyr too.

So if it happens that one of those haters gets murdered, I'd by sympathizing with the perpetrator.

UHhh I dont mind ignorant people and their stupid bashing. Sometimes when I read the hateful messages people put out, I feel angry and want to murder them, but then again karma will get them back one day. Maybe in their next life they will come back as a ugly gay looking troll and see how its like looking through our eyes and learn some empathy. Its sad that America is still fighting over this topic while most countries have resolve this issue along time ago like many of european counties. They say America is so modern, but simple things like gay rights and equality are still a problem. Its pretty sad.

Suicide if I can only get famous that way icon_razz.gif

Sorry mate, but you're wrong - what you're saying is this Buddhist yoga practitioner self-help book hogwash.

By killing them, you make a very strong point.

They already have the power. They are the government. They are the legislature. They are the school directors. They are the law enforcement. They are the people that pay your salary.

    They already have the power.

And who ever said anything about fighting evil and destruction? We're talking about fighting homophobia.

Suicide is more sad... I don't know which is worse. And I don't think that we can generalize about most gay people thinking about suicide. I surely never have...

I believe in the right to defend oneself.. is that a good enough answer?

That said, I think suicide is honorable if you do it to save others...

Well we would, but that would give the general public the idea that gays are indeed crazy fuckers who go around killing people... it would make them hate us more

A family friend of mine jumped off of a parking garage 10-15-2010.

However, the police conclusion is that it was suicide. Technically investigators still have it open as homicide because none of it makes sense. It's the most messed up course of events that I've ever heard.

P.S.- it was the jumping on Central and I think Thomas in PHX. It's never even been published yet.

First and foremost....NEVER comtemplate suicide. It just creates Karma and you will have come back here and do it all over again but worse. Remember that you have a contract with God and that YOU ARE HERE FOR A REASON.

As for murder, again it creates Karma and what goes around will come back eventually. Yes this world is cruel and filled with bigotry and hatred. No one comes here with a manual on how to deal with people like that. But compared to how it was in the past say 10 to 20 years ago....gays who are bullied and even attacked nowadays can appeal to the authorities based a hate crime. We've come a long way and to have someone bully us into a corner because he or she disapproves of our lifestyle is no way to deal with the situation.

You have so much to learn about God Amar.....it's us that create the hell here on earth. It's people who kill other people....it's people who abuse other people....it's people who make other people suffer. YOU can doubt or for that matter hesitate the existence of a higher, loving intellligence but all you have to do is look up at the sky at night and see the stars and realize that despite the wars, hatred and chaos on this planet...there is hope.

You may not believe in God but the Creator believes in YOU!
