Buy a different cut of jeans: generally clothes are not designed for athletes. We don´t fit properly (my problem is my bum is big and my waist not so big and most underwear doesn´t fit well)

You can't methodically spot reduce. Your general body size is dependant on your nutrition, so basically you need to take an approach of cutting calories and losing body weight, which would make you smaller (though you can't really pick and choose where you get smaller by creating a calorie deficit. It's an overall smaller pretty much, though your genetic predispositions ultimately will dicatate that). As far as practical advice, take up running, specifically longer distance running. Statistically they have a thinner leg build than say, cyclists.

Quit lifting heavy and start running or cycling. That'll stretch your muscles out.

Um... there's absolutely nothing wrong with your legs! Don't be ridiculous. Big muscular legs are hot and sexy, so if you got it, flaunt it!

    A) Don't worry about it. Most people have a screwed perceptions of their own body. Don't be that guy.

    B) Google 'gluteal activation'. If your quads are picking up all the slack from your lazy glutes you might become a bit disproportionate (if you really are).

    buy bigger jeans...

I have to buy shit with a 40'' waist cuz my quads don't fit in anything. I don't really like having to dress in baggy shit but it beats going around in sweat pants.

I'm a short guy, but have the genetics of a bigger build. I inherited my dads big legs and there isn't much I can do. When I work my legs I do lower weight and high reps. Also lots of running! I don't however think you'll have much success. I agree with ciarsolo that you can really spot reduce.

I used to always hate my legs. I always have like a sleek european look and can never really achieve it. When I started dating in college I found out that all these dudes loved my legs. I have since grown to love and be proud of them.

Fuck skinny jeans, I would probably cut off my circulation anyway!

By bigger pants. Jeeze. What red-blooded American male would want to be tiny? It's the pants that are fucked up; not you. You're a GUY; not a girl. Don't act like one.

Long distance low resistance running, would tone more than reduce but might help get to your desired size.

I think you should be proud of having big quads. I am, I get compliments all the time!

But I buy a different style of jeans to help with that problem sometimes I have to go up a waist size or two to fit my quads in.

Pilates and yoga will help stretch the muscle but guys with great leg muscles are hot. Most guys in my gym focus on their upper body only and end up looking like they're going to topple over.

    Um. No.
You can spot reduce muscle. (You're thinking of fat.)
The obvious solution would be do less of / fewer high-weight exercises that use the quads... ? You could also do more aerobic activity that utilizes the quads to promote development of different quad physiology (I forget which fiber is type I and which is type II, but you get the idea).
Not sure why you'd even ask that.... icon_neutral.gif

I do know understand having big quads though.
Comfortable jeans waist size for me is 30, but I often get 4 sizes larger, because I just can't fit into the legs of most size 30 jeans.
That said, I'm quite happy to have strong quads. icon_smile.gif

I don't want to give you stupid advice about how to make your quad muscles smaller. But I will tell you a story that I'm reminded of when I hear people whine about what clothes they won't fit into.

I was at a department store to buy a shirt. Everything in my chest/neck/arm size had a billowy waist. Basically every shirt was a cylinder rather than an hourglass. A salesperson, a woman, responded to my question about clothes with more athletic cut by saying that "guys like you should realize working out is a bad idea because it'll be hard to buy clothes."

I laughed at her. I said, "Oh, I get it...clothes are the customer, and people are just the hanger your designers get to drape things on. I had it all backward..." and left the store.

There are pants that complement your fine legs. Stop shopping at Target.

Call me skeptical if I don't believe every tissue particle on his legs is absolute fat free muscle tissue. I was offering pragmatic advice on size reduction.

    Understandable. icon_smile.gif
To the extent that there is muscle it can be spot reduced though.
Also, as someone who cannot buy pants that fit him because he has proportionally big quads (and not being the only one (thai boxing tends to do it to you for example)) I appreciate that the problem does exist.
Didn't mean to offend though. icon_smile.gif

    Thanks guys!

more aerobic / low weight-high reps.

    I will try it.

And one more thing -- big legs are sexy, but if your legs look
    like >< instead of | |. you'd see the problem icon_razz.gif

    Thanks again!

Doing more cardio than weight training will slim your quads. Depending on your body physique, some people just have more thick or thin legs than others. Running long distance would be your best bet to slim your legs. when your legs are sore from running then try the eliptical or bike to keep burning calories in your legs.
