There have been a couple threads on this before, but they're pretty old since the movie has had some issues being released in the US. But, it looks like it is finally set to release here in December. Although it appears to be a little stereotypical (what gay movie in the US isn't really), it looks to have some promise. From the preview at least, Jim and Ewan look to do a really good job.

Anyone see this overseas as of yet? Who in the US is looking forward to seeing it?

I hadn't heard of it but I went and read up on it and its story (which surprised me that it was based off a true story.) Looks promising... theres some info on Jim Carreys page about it coming soon to the US (December 3, 2010) and some screenies! icon_smile.gif

It's based on a true story, however, of Steven Jay Russell:

Its a MOVIE not a chronicle of your life or what your life should be!!! Lighten up and just enjoy something.

I loved the movie.. made me laugh and see a side of gay life never seen before

If you can't spell crappy then movie reviewing is not the best profession for you.

This may open the doors to more mainstream gay movies. It's a good thing.

Three of us saw it yesterday and enjoyed it. I watched "127 Hours" before it, so it was a nice change of pace for me.

I heard a review of this on NPR the other day. This movie was never intended to be a "gay" movie. This is simply a movie based on a rather interesting real life person who happens to be gay. They even interviewed the guy for the NPR story and it sounds like the movie is quite faithful to what really happened.

It's funny to hear you say the plot is crap when it's based on a true story icon_smile.gif

There was a recent article about the movie and Steven Jay Russell in a recent issue of Entertainment Weekly. Phillip Morris went as Ewan McGregor's date to the premier but Steven Jay Russell will never see the movie. He is in solitary for 23 hours a day and gets one hour to exercise and shower.

It got a 77% fresh rating on rottentomatoes.com, which is pretty high. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/i_love_you_phillip_morris/.

OMFG. That guy, Steven Jay Russell, his story is so fucked up. It's obvious they made a movie about it loll...

Probably gonna watch it, as an easy entertainment. But I guess I might wait for it to come out on DVD.
