Complete with sprinkles of gold dust, one sandwich may just be the most expensive in the world. It features a cheddar cheese that is blended with white truffles; black heirloom tomatoes; fresh figs; red amaranth; and slices of quail egg. The sandwich is built with three slices of sourdough bread.
The sandwich is topped off with a sprinkle of gold dust.
"The gold leaf doesn't taste of anything, but it's a sort of cleanser," British chef Martin Blunos said . "It cleanses the body."
The sandwich costs about 111 British pounds or $170. The high cost isn't the edible gold, though. It's the white truffle cheese, which costs 92 pounds or about $141 to make.
