Perry's Steakhouse in clear lake, tx.

    BEST FOOD I'VE EVER HAD.
had a buffalo ribeye with some sort of bleu cheese creme sauce, and some garlic mashed potatoes.

I never wanted the food to end, and I was sad when my plate was clean. icon_sad.gif

I have to say the best steaks I've ever had were NY Strips my dad cooked on our deck growing up. For a less casual affair, I have to defer to Del Frisco's.

I grill the best ones, however, this place in Orlando is highly rated. Truth be told, I always get their grilled salmon there!! They do fish as well as a steak!!

Yeah, the best ones are on my deck. (It's also clothing optional ;) )

Next is a seedy old 30's roadhouse in the next town. Hasn't changed a bit since I was a little kid. (Ugly cement block construction next to a railroad yard on a bypassed section of old highway) Excellent steak dinners for $15.

But the very best ones are in a crappy old logger's bar in a little town where the mill burned down 20 years ago. Ten miles away as the crow flies, 50 by road. 2x4 props hold up the ceiling. Nasty "Deliverance-esque" ambiance. They have their own beef custom grown and custom butchered. Served with a huge baked potato and veggies swimming in a quarter pound of butter and bleu cheese. Dessert is a cheesecake with a full fifth of liquor in every pie. (You get carded for dessert.) Definitely need a designated driver for the trip up that windy canyon road. Can't go more than once a year for health reasons. But it's SO good.

Hmm... it's been about a year. Anybody wanna go for a steak?

The best steak that I have ever had, with the exception of my own patio, was a place called Dimitry's in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I was really upset when he and his wife got a divorce and he closed the restaurant and moved to North Carolina. I wonder if he opened another restaurant there. If he did, I would be there in a flash.

Wow, I don't know Dimitri's but I spend a summer near Kzoo back in the 80's. The nearest beer was Gilkey Lake Tavern (?). They had male strippers on Thursday nights.

I remember that place. The place is still there minus the male strippers on Thursday nights and they have great food. I ate there last year when I visited my family.

When I used to live in Orange County:

Agora Churrascaria is a Brazilian Steak House in the Rodizio style, where waiters, dressed as Gauchos (local ranchers from the South), move from table to table carrying skewers of meat, from which they slice portions for their guests.

What else can you ask for a piece of meat being served by a hot braziliansicon_biggrin.gif

It's only for topics like this (and sushi) that I miss living in Los Angeles...had my 21st at Mastro's which was ridiculously good, but nothing will beat my graduation dinner (and about a half a dozen other dinners with the fam) at Morton's Downtown Los Angeles.

L Woods in Chicago (actually Lincolnwood). Old school, rustic wisconsin lodge feel to it, great steaks, and even now i'm still usually one of the youngest people there when i go.

I like to grill at home. Cooking is a passion for me and I make the type of steak to where if you ask me for A1 its like a slap in the face and I might not invite ya to be cooked for again... ask my brother.
