Now that I have your attention I have a serious question to ask about creatine. I am on my second round of creatine. I take 20 mg/day, 4 X 5 mg doses, for 6 days, then, I take 10 mg/day, 2 X 5 mg doses before and after my workout till the 200 mg of creatine is gone. Then I get off creatine for a while. This rest period, I was off creatine for about two months but it seemed to be too long because I lost some of the gains from my first time. My question is: How long should I stay off creatine between periods of usage?

Your body metabolizes several grams of creatine each day. Supplementing with a few milligrams will have no effect, good or bad.

I see where you are coming from Mindgarten. I am taking gram doses of creatine, not milligram doses.

I would not be taking my second round of creatine if I did not think it was doing me some good. Before my first round I was stuck on a plateau. I could not seem to get to any higher weight on most of my exercises. After taking the load phase of creatine, I had a surge of strength and increased my weights significantly on all my exercises. Now, I am on my second round and last week finished with the load phase and even before I was through with that I had another surge. I am lifting more weight than I ever have before and I have increased my muscle mass enough to really tell a difference. However, I think I was in the rest phase too long because I went back into a plateau about a month after stopping the first time. Obviously, this is not scientific, but I think the creatine is affecting my workout positively. I know the body produces creatine on its own but apparently not enough for bodybuilding, at least in my case.

that little amount of creatine will do nothing. Try taking 20 grams a day for a week and you will notice the effects of Creatine. take with dextrose(Gatorade) and prolly wanna drink it at 120 Fahrenheit... a lil colder than ur coffee. take a bit first thing in the AM cuz your body is a sponge and will soak it right up. and a lil bit before the workout and a lil after. I'm a track athlete and if you are dehydrated all creatine will do is cripple you but if your well hydrated and saturated in electrolytes you will notice lil fatigue, shorter rests, a kick ass pump, and the ability to workout harder. If you dont take creatine right it will be detrimental. my two bits

Check the label. different brands have different ammounts.
the one i have is 5.25 grams per scoop, and a scoop is 43 grams.

Just do the math when you're more awake.
