    It's been going around lately
When Bubba McCance said he wanted Fags and Queers to go on and commit suicide on his Facebook page he appeared on Anderson Cooper's show last night and said

It was a Poor Choice of Words

and when the Candidate for Lieutenant governor compared Gay Marriage to being able to marry a table on a Radio Interview
    Guess What she said?
    http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2010/10/28/Kleefisch_Apologizes_for_Antigay_Words/

    Yep .... you got it

It was a Poor Choice of words

Funny now this candidates Gay Uncle has turned around and has donated to her opposition icon_cool.gif
    Way to go Unc

But isn't that the problem? Words ARE a choice
McCance didn't HAVE to make that screed about homosexuals online
and Rebecca Kleefisch didn't have to say those things in her interview
But they CHOSE to do them

So do you think you should be able to take back your words
or apologize for them and go on from there?
    Or
Is what you say etched in stone ?

How about the OPs delete their redundant threads so we can all keep the comments unified?

ok, those aren't URLs. I can't click them.

So I will have to ask. Is "Poor Choice of Words" a follow up thread discussing the phenomenon of people who make stupid statements now trying to avoid responsibility by just saying it was a Poor Choice of Words?

Kind of like those non apologies "If anyone was offended ..."

Hey, I actually think this thread is separate from the others. It speaks on a much broader sense, when people say dumb things and then act like they shouldn't have. The OP gives a few examples than just the AR man.

"poor choice of words" is itself a very weak choice of words. People should be forced to clarify what they mean. Do they mean that they were wrong, that they regret that they made their odious opinions public or that the snivelling cunt lappers simply regret that there are people who will call them on their foul language?

Maybe I just have too much hope in people, but although he doesn't look genuine, I'll give him some credit by saying that at least he apologized and stepped down from the school board. The only way that his actions would be redeemable would be if he actually did good for the LGBT community.

"It was a poor choice of words"

"It was an allergic reaction to some medication"

    "It was an unfortunate incident"

    "I didn't inhale"

    "My speechwriter wrote those comments"

    etc. etc.

None of these are apologies and no one is taking responsibilities for their actions.

It's kind of like, "I'm sorry you got upset by what I did."

Super timely examples. I think we've heard all of these this week! icon_wink.gif

What the OP .... meaning me was getting at

.......... and it's more than the McCance controversy

If you read the Advocate article there's a woman running for State LT Governor
Who says that Gay marriage as the same as someone marrying a Table or some other inanimate object
    http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2010/10/28/Kleefisch_Apologizes_for_Antigay_Words/

And then when she gets called on it she says those Immortal words

It was a Poor choice of words

Was it? .... and Is it?

Or should we be pegged with the words we say?
